I grew up doing volunteer work where I mentored low-income children in my community, so I have always had a passion for helping and teaching others. More recently, I have been a research assistant for an epidemiologist, and I am also a teaching assistant for a college biology class. I am currently working on my bachelor's degree in biology and plan to obtain a Master's degree in public health. One of my favorite ways to teach is by having an interactive presentation with lots of visual components, where I am able to ask questions while I am presenting. I generally prefer to have an engaging conversation with the student, because it also helps me learn how to be a better teacher! Outside of academia, I work on public health campaigns for my community and compete in horse shows with my school's equestrian team.
