I grew up listening to Mozart, Brahms, and Harry James records that my mother would play. My grandfather provided musical instruments and lessons for all 17 of his grandchildren. I majored in music while attending high school, playing trumpet in the band and orchestra and singing tenor-baritone in the men's chorus. I remember getting my first stereo hi-fi record player in 1964 and one stereo record. My friends would come over after school and we would listen to that stereo hi-fi record over and over. 57 years later I still enjoy sharing music experiences.
I earned my Bachelor of Science degree from Ball State University with a major in Instrumental Music and Vocal Music and a minor in American History. I earned my Master's degree in Music Technology from Indiana University in 2004. I have retired from teaching band and choir for grades 6 to 12 in public schools.
I currently teach music appreciation at a local community college.
I play in community bands and church praise bands when I have the opportunity.
Being a trumpet, cornet, and flugelhorn player I listen to a lot of British Brass Bands. I am looking forward to the brass band festivals and competitions starting up.
I use several DAWs: Acid Pro 10, FL Studio, as well as Sound Forge, and Camtasia Studio. I also use a Zoom R24 as a stand-alone recorder and as an interface to my DAWs.
I have always enjoyed sharing music, musical knowledge and skills with others of all ages.

In addition to enjoying time with my family, I love to read. I read books on American history, historical novels, music, and poetry. I am fortunate to live close to Sweetwater Music so I can go to a lot of concerts and workshops. I play my horn at most any opportunity. I am on social media with middle school music teachers, trumpeters, and composers. I like to write and arrange music with both old and new software programs. I have some of my older work posted on Sound Cloud. I find cooking to be a relaxing experience. I like shopping at the local farmer’s markets for fresh and new produce. I need to admit that I am a coffee snob; I take my brew with me from home since I think my brew is better than most local coffee shops offer. I do not get coffee at national chains.
