Certified Tutor

I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting at the University of Windsor in Canada and recently completed my Master of Fine Arts in Directing Classical & Contemporary Text at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. In addition to my work in the arts, I have worked in Education for seven years. I am an ESL teacher with VIPKid where I focus on teaching written, verbal and aural English language skills to students in China and the US; I was an Educational Assistant in Canada, which concentrated on supporting and facilitating learning for students with physical disabilities, special needs or behavioural challenges; I acted as a supply teacher for an Outdoor Education School which prioritized leadership and hands-on learning through nature-based curriculum; I was an Assistant Director and Educator with the Stratford Shakespeare School, an summer school for students who intend on pursuing the arts professionally; and I was a Teaching Assistant at the University of Windsor for 1st, 2nd and 3rd year dramatic arts classes. I also certified as a TESOL educator in 2018 and am familiar with differentiating my approach to best suit the needs of each individual student. I am experienced in working with students with learning disabilities or specific learning needs and offer an individualized approach which can be adapted depending on the student's goals. As an educator, I am passionate about helping students love learning and develop a strong self-confidence, particularly when individualized support can be difficult to facilitate in traditional educational environments. I work from what the student already knows and like to find interesting and interactive ways to teach. I believe each student has the right to supportive, positive, and thorough education, and I hope to inspire in my students a confidence in their own knowledge and teach them skills to handle adversity in learning. I am able to tutor students in the English language, public speaking, reading and writing and theatrical texts and performance. I particularly love working with students who are pursuing further arts education, as the theatre is my passion. When I am not educating or directing plays, you can find me hiking, reading, making yummy vegan food, completing a new Lego set, or doing yoga.
