Certified Tutor

I am a graduate of Sheffield University with a Master's degree in Chemistry and a year in Industry. I decided at GCSE level that I was interested chemistry and therefore carried forward that interest through to university. I was very lucky to come across a degree that enabled me to experience the commercial world in a scientific capacity during my year in Industry. Since graduation, I have worked in various specialised technical roles where chemistry has played a big part in the skill set required to do the job. I have mentored and coached students in their sandwich years completing a technical project. I now work in the cosmetic industry and manage a team of formulation chemists who I support daily in solving problems and developing their technical and soft skills. I have always been passionate about tutoring and teaching a skill or knowledge that has benefited me. Throughout my career I have had various strong mentors and coaches who have taught me how to be a good mentor and now I want to give back. In addition to my love for chemistry, I am also a qualified yoga instructor. My teacher training course has taught me how to engage with students to ensure deep kinesthetic learning of ancient yogic postures and how to move safely. The subject I am tutoring is GCSE Level chemistry. I believe that chemistry is a great area of science that can bring students a broad range of STEM careers. I have transitioned from Pharmaceutical to Paint, Fragrance, and now Cosmetics where my chemistry degree was a requirement for most of the vacancies and has helped me in delivering to my daily targets. Chemistry also provides a useful range of soft skill sets from analytical to problem-solving skills. Having experienced the commercial world in technical roles, I believe I can be of great value to my students where I can teach them the theoretical side of things but also how to implement what they have learned practically.
