My passion for being a maths teacher is to make maths easy for students who already have the drive to succeed at maths. Like many other students, I once studied with maths.
I relied on workbooks, text books to get maths right. However once I started learning in a formal environment maths anxiety or fear kicked in and I realised I need help more on specific areas in maths
It is okay to not understand everything. It's about making the areas you are weak in become your strengths and making the areas you are strong in second nature to you through practice.
Practice is key, however I will give you the skills you need to understand.
I am very good at simplifying. So if you want maths made easy then you are in the right place.
I like to plan lessons ahead of time to personalise to suit individuals. Each student has different needs so I will go the extra mile to make sure you understand by including more examples where I feel you need to gain expertise. I will increase the complexity of the questions where I feel you need to be challenged. I will give you time to encourage you to work on your own pace. The idea is to reduce or eliminate maths anxiety.
I am sure that by choosing me as your tutor you can gain confidence in maths and get the answers you need to excel at it on your own.
I have studied maths myself and became good at it through practice. I am glad to attest to the fact that numeracy, maths is second nature to me and this can be possible for all the student that I work with. All you need is a willingness to learn, a pen, paper, calculator and to be prepared for class.
I have a few ground rules which I always talk through at the start of my lesson. It helps you know what to expect from me and they are there to promote participations, co operation and understanding between me (the tutor) and you the learner.
I encourage you to offer constructive feedback at the end of the lesson with an overview. I ask you how well you understood what was taught?
During the lesson you have opportunity to stop and ask for clarification as much as is reasonable. So I encourage you to take responsibility for your learning by participating. This feedback goes directly into improving the next class.
Most of all, I hope that you enjoy learning maths with me. I will work on creating fun, interactive lessons. I hope that you take something from each lesson no matter how small or significant. Having a positive can- do attitude to maths increases your chances of success at maths.
