Certified Tutor
I'm qualified, and licensed, for tutoring in education, allied health, as well as writing. I'm an experienced teacher with 20 years in the Elementary Public School system. I retired early this past year and am still interested in supporting students one-on-one or in small groups. I want to help your child succeed! I use a growth mindset model with principles from Conscious Discipline to build a connection with my students; make learning fun, and engage them with ownership in their education. I enjoy teaching reading with interventions that use Orton Gillingham for dyslexia and struggling readers. I also have been trained in the science of reading. I enjoy taking kids back to the foundation of reading to simplify the process and make it enjoyable. I have two bachelor's degrees, including Corporate Wellness / Disease Prevention and Early Childhood Education. My Master's degree is in Instructional Design for Online Learning. I also have my Reading Endorsement, so I am highly qualified in Reading for grades K-12. I also have previous career experience in Disease Prevention and Public Health. I am able to work with, teach, train, and tutor in the allied health and wellness field. I have worked as a program manager for disease prevention. I teamed with the NIH for disease study in adolescence and have worked as a consultant for health and wellness.

I love everything outdoors! We are an outdoor family, and you will find me with my husband, three kids, and 14 grandkids enjoying hobbies such as camping, hiking, fishing, and hunting. We live in an area where we are blessed to be surrounded by nature. I look forward to learning about your child's interests and hobbies, in order to better engage them in the learning process. I always spend the beginning of my time with students learning about them. There is no better way to ensure a positive interaction with learning than if we have built a connection first.
