Certified Tutor

I am a graduate of Pittsburg State University, having received both my Bachelor of Science in Education with an emphasis in History/Government, and my Master of Arts in History from that institution. Since then, I have worked as a high school educator teaching American and World History. History is my passion- I have always enjoyed learning people's stories, but I am also certified to teach Government and Geography, and I enjoy those subjects as well. In addition to Social Studies, I enjoy English and writing, and I believe the two disciplines are closely linked. My teaching philosophy is that everyone can learn, and that we all have a different style- the key is simply finding out what works and pursuing success. My job is to help students succeed, and I find so much joy in that undertaking. I believe education is imperative to society, and I try to make sure that my students value education as much as I do. Outside of teaching, I enjoy reading (especially history or biographical books) and spending time with my family.
