Kyle
Certified Tutor
My passion for helping students stems from my own journey of self-learning and professional growth. Having worked my way up from a help desk position to roles in network and systems administration, and now pursuing a BS in Software Engineering at WGU, I understand the challenges and rewards of mastering new skills. This experience drives me to support others in their educational pursuits, helping them overcome obstacles and achieve their goals.
Throughout my career, I've had the opportunity to mentor colleagues and new hires, guiding them through complex technical concepts and practical applications. This hands-on experience has honed my ability to explain difficult topics in an accessible and engaging manner.
My education has been a blend of on-the-job learning and self-study, complemented by my current academic pursuit at WGU. I am working toward a BS in Software Engineering, which builds on my extensive practical experience in IT and software development.
I tutor subjects related to networking (The Comptia Network+), broad IT concepts (the Comptia A+), programming (including Python, PowerShell, Lua, and complete front-end (HTML, CSS JavaScript)), and game development. My favorite subject to tutor is a tie between networking and programming. I started with networking, and the subjects complement each other while enabling students to build incredible projects over time.
My teaching philosophy centers on fostering a supportive and interactive learning environment. I believe in adapting my approach to meet students' unique needs, encouraging them to ask questions and think critically. My hands-on and project-based tutoring style allows students to apply what they learn in real-world scenarios.
Outside academia, I enjoy creating game assets, playing musical instruments, and skateboarding (I still skate and slam even though I'm 30. I love it). I make 3D models, pixel art, art software, etc. I have been playing drums for 20 years and have toured the country. I now play guitar in a band with my Fianc.
