Isak
Certified Tutor
Being a recent graduate of a rigorous liberal-arts college (Colorado College) offering semester-equivalent classes in just three-and-a-half weeks, I know how important it is to make the most of your study time. As a dedicated tutor with over four years of total instructional experience, working with students ranging from elementary school to adults in the workplace, including one year of college-level tutoring experience, I am committed to helping you reach your educational goals.
I believe that education should be fun! In particular, I believe that the way mathematics is taught in our educational system is designed for when "calculator" was a job title, not a piece of technology. Therefore, the mathematics that we see today throughout the K-12 system needlessly misses out on many of the beautiful and fascinating aspects of mathematics, leading to the ubiquitous statement "I'm not a math person." I seek to remedy this systemic educational shortcoming through providing the motivation, intuition, and problem-solving methods that underlie assignments, making math not only achievable, but a joy.
As I prepare for a Physics PhD, I am committed to keeping foundational as well as higher-level concepts fresh, constantly reviewing previous concepts, and studying new material.
As a tutor, I strive to make all students feel welcome and empowered in the STEM fields. I customize my tutoring to meet the unique needs and goals of each student, helping them develop the skills to become self-sufficient learners. I offer a professional, immersive, and personalized tutoring experience designed to help students succeed.
When I'm not tutoring, one can find me exploring the mountains near my home in the Pacific Northwest and coaching the local community cross country ski team!

Undergraduate Degree: Colorado College - Bachelor of Science, Mathematics
When not in school, I fill my free time with volunteer field biology work. I have worked on projects classifying montane forest types, monitoring Clark’s Nutcrackers, designing analytical tools to classify bird vocalizations, and assessing turtle and tortoise populations in Mexico. I’m also a music lover, playing classical piano and jazz saxophone, an avid cross country ski racer, and of course I love recreational mathematics and learning about the physics that governs the world we live in.
