Hi everyone! My name is Cristina, and I am a Chemistry master's student at the University of Washington. I received my Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology, with a minor in Forensic Behavioral Health, at the University of South Florida.
During my time in undergrad, I was part of two research labs. One was an analytical chemistry research lab where I worked with polymers for microextraction of trace metals. My other undergraduate research lab was in forensic geochemistry, where I have worked on two main projects. One was with pre- and post-burial soils, and the other was with serpentinites.
I was on the E-Board for two organizations at USF. I was Fundraising Chair for the Biomedical Engineering Society for two years. I was also a mentor in this organization, so I helped undergraduate engineering students with Calculus (I and II) and Chemistry all the way up to Organic Chemistry II.
I was a Campus Ambassador for Gift of Life, an organization finding stem cell transplants for blood cancer, and served as Treasurer the first year we were established as an official organization and the Vice President in my last year.
In high school, I received my IB Diploma, so I know how rigorous this program is and how to successfully prepare for the exams. I was also in a few honor societies during high school, where I had opportunities tutoring students in various subjects such as Spanish, Geometry, and Algebra.
I worked at Kumon in high school as well, so I have experience working with elementary school kids in math and reading. I also have experience tutoring kids with ADHD. I have tutored middle schoolers, high schoolers, and college students. I know how to cater the tutoring sessions for each audience and have them engaged in the sessions.
I want you or your student to understand the concepts, so I am not talking the whole time. I always engage with the students by asking: how do we solve this problem, what is the first step, or is there another way we can approach the problem? Doing this also helps me gauge how well the student understands the concept and if there is any misunderstanding to address.
I have been tutoring for 8 years now, so I have learned how to properly conduct a tutoring session and have received amazing reviews from my past clients. I know you can trust me as a tutor for you or your student!

I love reading forensic anthropology and forensic chemistry books. I have a love for forensic chemistry! I also enjoy watching animal documentaries, especially if the animals are small or are babies. I promise I don't spend all my time with non-fiction! I love a good comedy TV show or a romcom movie. Some of my favorite TV shows are New Girl, Brooklyn 99, Supernatural, and Criminal Minds. Shows I am currently watching every week for the new episodes are High-Potential, Abbott Elementary, and Animal Control. I also enjoy the outdoors. A nice hiking, camping, or backpacking trip clears my mind and it is nice to reconnect with nature. I recently adopted a dog so I can start bringing her on all my outdoor adventures!
