Certified Tutor

I have been a high school science teacher for almost 20 years now and I love helping people learn. I have experience with teaching all levels of individuals from pre-k to adulthood, advanced to remedial. My passion is science, specifically biology, but I also enjoy teaching chemistry and elementary and middle school math.

I have a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Health Studies from the University of Houston (main campus) and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of St. Thomas.

I have significant experience working with students with accommodations or modified curriculum as well as almost 20 years of experience working with students with learning disabilities.

I am a patient teacher with high expectations for my students to perform at the highest level possible for themselves. I have great success with all levels of student learners as I am able to meet learners where they are and work with them to excel.

Some successes that I can speak to are helping 2nd grade, 3rd grade, and middle school math students with ADD/ADHD pass their math classes as well as their math STAAR exams. My biology students excel on the Biology STAAR exam with my last year's students obtaining a 100% pass rate and 65% of those students obtained the level of mastery, which is the highest level on the exam. My average score report for my advanced students in AP Biology is a steady average of a 3 out of a 5 (3 is passing and 5 is a top score) for the AP Biology College Board exam scores.

I am also a member of the Texas Association of Biology Teachers (TABT). I love all things science, especially animals and astronomy. I love to be in nature and enjoy the beauty of the world around me.
