Who needs tutoring?
No obligation. Takes ~1 minute.

I am currently pursuing a Bachelors of Science in Aerospace Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. I am also a graduate of the high school International Baccalaureate Program. I have informal experience tutoring high school physics, but am most passionate about tutoring students for the ACT standardized test, having had extensive experience preparing for standardized tests throughout high school. I am eager to aid students in boosting their scores before their upcoming college applications, an important milestone in many students' lives. In my free time, I also enjoy playing tennis.

I'm in my 2nd year of medical school at the University of Central Florida. I previously graduated Cum Laude from the University of California, San Diego with a degree in Human Biology and Education Studies. I was an Academic Mentor for underprivileged San Diego communities. I was also a Teaching Assistant for the Biology department at UCSD. I have taught in a variety of settings; from one-on-one tutoring to review sessions for 300 people in a lecture hall. I primarily tutor MCAT, SAT, and the SAT.
I am currently a senior in the Honors program, on track to graduate summa cum laude, and approaching completion of an undergraduate thesis on my work in the university's nanotechnology lab.
I am one year from completing my Bachelor of Science at the Florida Institute of Technology. I am majoring in both Astronomy and Astrophysics, as well as Planetary Science; with a minor in Computer Science. Upon completion of my Bachelor degree I plan on pursuing a Masters degree, most likely in Physics, Exoplanetary Studies, or Engineering Physics. I find that most students struggle in math and physics because they lack true engagement towards these topics, it is my personal philosophy that how you learn a subject can immensely impact your abilities to succeed in and willingness to pursue related subjects in your academic career. I enjoy working with all ages, as I believe it is never too late to start learning and I enjoy helping students become passionate about their studies. Personally; I am passionate about the fundamental interplay between foundational mathematics and its applications to higher-level physics. My tutoring style/strategies require interactive engagement with students and honest communication; this allows me to understand precisely what is necessary to enhance your learning experience, and encourages students to engage with the content with curiosity and excitement. I feel comfortable tutoring subjects ranging from elementary school mathematics, up to college level mathematics and physics courses. I have experience tutoring my college peers in a wide-range of topics from college algebra and calculus to advanced physics courses such as Electromagnetic Theory and Physical Mechanics.
I'm not shy, but if you are it's ok I once was too. I'm a student of the mind and so all of my teachings will be tailored toward each individual or group traits that day. It's ok to fail, but don't allow yourself to quit. Learning is hard sometimes because everyone's brain understands things in a different way. But those differences, when explored, can make learning fun and make complex topics easier to understand. I'm not the old guy who loves hearing his own voice and likes to stand; so I don't lecture. I like to keep teaching/learning process fun, interactive, and creative because no one likes to be bored and confused. So involvement is key!
I'm a current student at the University of Central Florida and I love to tutor passionate students in a variety of subjects. I've taken and passed 15 AP exams in high school, and I've taken several courses at UCF that I could tutor as well.
I'm not tutoring or buried in my textbooks, you will either find me rock climbing at the Triangle Rock Club, playing Ultimate Frisbee, working on my car, or enjoying the great outdoors (beaches, mountains, forests--you name it, I love it). On rainy weekends I enjoy tinkering with computers and old electronics, playing Pokemon, or picking at my guitar.
I am an interdisciplinary educator with an Ed.M. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a B.A. from Dartmouth College. My background is primarily in integrated arts learning and museum education and I specialize in visual arts, history and art history, and object-based learning. In all subjects, I take a creative, inquiry-based and learner-centered approach, designing opportunities for each unique individual to meet their learning goals.
I am a recent graduate from a masters program in biostatistics at Columbia University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in biological sciences, with a focus in neurobiology at Northwestern University. In August, I will be starting a doctoral program in biostatistics at NYU. I was a teaching assistant at Columbia University in my department and also have tutored graduate students and undergraduates privately as well. My primary areas of tutoring are math and statistics coursework in addition to math sections on standardized tests such as the GRE and GMAT. I am very passionate about helping students feel more confident and excited about math. In my spare time, I enjoy running, playing piano, and spending time with friends and family.
I am a graduate of Wesleyan University, where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with High Honors. With eight years of experience working in education, I've tutored students in math, science, history, and English, as well as helped students prepare for standardized tests. I've guided adults towards passing the US Citizenship Exam and taught English in India, where I lived for six months. Whenever I work with a student I personalize the lessons to fit their particular learning style, since I know every student is unique and having the right fit can make all the difference in making learning fun and effective. My strengths are tutoring the social sciences and humanities, as well as making math and standardized tests approachable to students that normally don't like those subjects. In my spare time I like traveling, spending time in the outdoors (climbing & backpacking), meditation, and playing soccer. Next fall I will be beginning my PhD in Education at Harvard University.
I am a graduate of Washington University in St Louis, where I received my Bachelor of Arts in History with minors in Humanities and Anthropology. Since graduation, I have worked as a tutor, teacher, and director of tutors at a charter public middle school in Boston. During this time I also received my Masters in Mild to Moderate Disabilities from Simmons College. I have worked extensively with students with a range of abilities, including students with specific learning disabilities, emotional impairments, dyslexia, and ADHD. My teaching experience has given me a deep understanding of the knowledge and habits essential to academic success and has given me the opportunity to hone a variety of strategies that ensure students at each level can achieve their academic goals. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, my favorite ones are Reading, Elementary/Middle School Math, History, and Test Prep. In my experience, tutoring is the most rewarding when a student has that "aha!" moment and achieves a new level of understanding and confidence in his/her abilities. I am a firm believer in the transformative power of education, and I see my role to be that of a facilitator and coach who is there to help the student reach his/her goals through individualized support and rigorous practice. In my free time, I enjoy reading, running, practicing my Spanish, and discovering new music. I am also an avid traveler and just got back from a 3 month trip to South America. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you!
I am a rising sophomore at Harvard College and am about to declare as a Mechanical Engineering concentrator, working towards a Bachelor of Science degree. I've always enjoyed sharing my knowledge with my peers and those around me and have done so in both formal and informal settings. I've been a tutor for both Math and Spanish programs in high school and enjoyed the strides I made with students. I am willing to tutor any subject I have a background in, but am strong in mathematics, the sciences, Spanish, history, writing, and ACT prep. I enjoy teaching mathematics most due to the joy I can see in children once they master a topic and can answer even pointed questions meant to stump them, and maybe even put their knowledge to real world use. As a tutor, I like to give a strong foundation to orient my student, and then gradually grant them more freedom and independence until they can feel themselves grasp the concept, pointing out pitfalls or common errors along the way; teachers who used these methods on me always left the most lasting impressions. Outside of my studies, I really enjoy listening to music, both old favorites and new interests, reading classics, and gaming/playing basketball with my friends.

Frequently Asked Questions
AP Physics covers two main tracks: AP Physics 1 (algebra-based) and AP Physics 2 (algebra-based continuation), or AP Physics C (calculus-based). Both include mechanics, energy, waves, electricity, magnetism, and modern physics. The curriculum emphasizes problem-solving, lab work, and understanding core physics principles rather than memorization. Knowing which track your school follows helps tutors tailor instruction to your specific exam.
Many students struggle with translating word problems into physics concepts, managing multi-step problem-solving under time pressure, and connecting abstract theories to real-world applications. Additionally, the lab component requires both experimental design skills and data analysis—areas where personalized guidance makes a significant difference. Varsity Tutors connects you with tutors who can break down these challenge areas and build your confidence systematically.
Score improvement depends on your starting point and consistency with tutoring, but students typically see meaningful gains when they focus on weak concept areas and practice strategic problem-solving. Many students jump from a 2 or 3 to a 4 or 5 by mastering free-response question techniques and building fluency with the exam format. Working with a tutor helps you identify exactly where you're losing points and develop targeted strategies to address those gaps.
Successful AP Physics test-takers typically start with the multiple-choice section to build momentum, then allocate 45 minutes to the free-response questions. Key strategies include reading questions carefully to identify what's being asked, sketching diagrams to visualize problems, and showing all work even on multiple choice (since partial credit is possible). Practice tests under timed conditions are essential—they build pacing skills and help you recognize question patterns before exam day.
Practice tests are critical for AP Physics because they reveal your pacing weaknesses, show which concept areas need more study, and reduce test anxiety through familiarity with the exam format. Taking full-length, timed practice tests every 2-3 weeks during your preparation allows you to track progress and adjust your study focus. Tutors can review your practice test results with you to identify patterns in your mistakes and refine your problem-solving approach.
Ideally, tutoring begins early in the school year to build a strong foundation in core concepts like kinematics and forces, which unlock understanding of more complex topics later. If you're starting closer to exam day, intensive tutoring focused on your weakest areas and practice test review can still yield significant improvements. Varsity Tutors connects you with tutors who can assess your current level and create a study plan tailored to your timeline.
Yes—tutors can guide you through experimental design, data collection techniques, and analysis methods that align with AP Physics lab standards. Understanding how to write clear lab reports, interpret data, and connect results to physics concepts strengthens both your lab grade and your conceptual understanding for the exam. Many students find that working through lab concepts with a tutor deepens their grasp of the underlying physics principles.
Your first session typically includes a diagnostic assessment to identify your current strengths and gaps—whether that's mechanics, circuits, waves, or test-taking strategy. The tutor will ask about your goals, timeline, and learning style, then create a personalized plan targeting your specific needs. This foundation ensures that every subsequent session builds directly toward your AP Physics goals.
