I'm Anna! I'm currently a student in the MD/MBA program between Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine and the Kellogg School of Management, and graduated from Northwestern University as part of the Honors Program in Medical Education. I attended the Bergen County Academies in New Jersey, a selective, application-based magnet school, for high school.

I am a second year law student at the University of Chicago who hails from the San Francisco Bay Area! I tutor the SAT, ESL, and Spanish. I was an AVID tutor in high school, and after college I taught an ESL class and tutored a high school student in Spanish. In law school, I am involved with the Lawyers in the Classroom program. My tutoring philosophy is based on listening to students work through problems and helping them to spot their confusions or incorrect assumptions. I believe students learn much better when they aren't simply told the right answer or right reasoning; they need to get there on their own.

I am an undergraduate at Washington University in St. Louis majoring in Philosophy-Neuroscience-Psychology on the Premed track. I have two years worth of experience peer tutoring. I feel the most confident tutoring ACT preparation. During my time as a high school student, I worked from an ACT score of 25 to a 36 and developed many effective strategies that I will tailor to the students I tutor and understand the ins and outs of the test. In addition to working with high school peers, I have also enjoyed teaching private piano and violin lessons for elementary students. Helping people knock down their roadblocks is a passion of mine. Standardized tests and basic education may feel removed from our passions, but developing those foundations are essential for opening up opportunities and becoming capable of taking on our pursuits.

I'm referring to math, of course, but I didn't always like the subject. Until about age 16, I thought of math as a boring, mind-numbing process of blindly memorizing formulas and then forgetting them after the test, but a series of wonderful teachers showed me the truth. I had thought that everything in math was invented arbitrarily just to torture students, but actually it all made sense in a deep way. When I caught a glimpse of what math really was, I found it irresistible and I ended up majoring in math in college at UChicago. I'm currently a Master's student in Computer Science at NYU.

I am a graduate of the University of Chicago where I received my undergraduate degree in political science. Right after graduation, I worked as an academic and test prep tutor as well as admissions consultant in Hong Kong. For the past two years, I worked with a number of students to help prepare them for college in the United States.

I am a part of the University of Chicago class of 2020, where I plan to pursue a major in economics and possibly biology, and a medical degree afterwards. I’ve had about 3 years of tutoring experience, and I tutor SAT, ACT, English, math, biology, and chemistry.

I am exploring my creativity by pursuing a double major in Asian Languages and Cultures with a focus in Korean, studying abroad in South Korea as a Benjamin A. Gilman Scholar, leading workshops that teach 3D printing and CAD for undergraduate students as the president of 3D4E, advocating for the first-generation and low-income student community as the Outreach Chair of the Quest+ Scholars Network, and getting involved with the Society of Women Engineers' outreach committee. I currently hold a work-study position as an administrative clerical aide in the Institute of Sustainability and Energy at Northwestern and was an undergraduate researcher in the John Rogers Lab. As I look forward with aspirations of applying to graduate school, areas of research in biomedical engineering and biotechnology that I am particularly interested in include biomaterials, pharmaceuticals, and drug delivery systems. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy learning on my own and sharing my experience and knowledge with my peers and other students. I hope to make use of my experiences with academics and learning in high school and so far in my undergraduate career in order to effectively tutor students who may be experiencing the same struggles in learning that I also experienced.

I am a math tutor who is currently attending the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and majoring in Environmental Engineering. I have been tutoring math for over four years, both at Fenwick High School (where I attended) as a peer tutor and with Mathnasium. I teach Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calc, and Calculus 1 + 2, and I also cover all sections of the ACT. I prefer to take an involved approach to tutoring -- that is, rather than have my students sit and listen to me talk, I prefer to actively engage them with problems. I believe that the best way to learn is to do, and I love to use this philosophy in my tutoring. However, I am willing to adapt to whatever style my students prefer -- if my students learn best from lectures, then lectures will be what we do. Working with clients to discover the way they learn best is one of my favorite parts of tutoring.

I am a life-long proponent of education and learning. I graduated from Princeton University with a B.A. in philosophy. After working for a few years, including in book publishing, I returned to school and completed my M.A. in history at the University of California, Berkeley. While there, I taught history and philosophy classes to undergraduates. I also taught Standardized Test Prep (SAT and GRE) for Summit Tutors and Kaplan.

I'm a sophomore at Harvard studying Applied Math, Economics, and Computer Science. I've tutored in a variety of subjects throughout high school and currently work part-time as a Course Assistant for an Introductory Calculus course at Harvard. I especially love tutoring math and making it a more accessible subject for students to learn. Aside from academics, I'm passionate about community service (I'm a director for a student-run homeless shelter!), music, digital design, and baking!

I'm a recent graduate of Oberlin College and Conservatory, where I studied Jazz Trumpet and Environmental Studies. I tutor in a wide range of subjects, including math, French, English, environmental science, and standardized test prep. I'm Kade and I'm currently a second-year at Northwestern University studying biology and chemistry on the pre-medical track. Outside of school/tutoring, I spend time volunteering for my university's annual Dance Marathon fundraiser, a member of Camp Kesem, working as a study group mentor, and I'm also into running and hiking. I am good at test taking, is my ability to organize information. It's a skill I use both in my academic life, as well as professionally; as a stage manager, it is often my job to take in complicated and conflicting pieces of information (the blocking, a quick change in costumes, changes in a script) and quickly organize that information so that I can convey it to someone else. I enjoy and excel at condensing and re-communicating facts or tasks, so that they become comprehensible to someone who may not understand them the first time around.

I am a research chemist at Northwestern University with ten years of experience as a tutor, teacher, or mentor. I have experience tutoring collegiate physics, calculus, and chemistry. I have also taught introductory college chemistry courses (both as a TA and head instructor). I am best suited as a chemistry tutor since I am a chemist by training. I am a graduate of Northwestern University, where I completed a BA in Cognitive Science (Neuroscience concentration) as well as a BMus and Masters degree in Voice and Opera Performance. Charlie breaks down every question type into its formal structure so students learn to spot the gap in an argument before they even look at the answer choices. He's heading to Harvard Law this fall, and his own LSAT preparation informs every session.

I am an ambitious and eager student entering the University of Notre Dame as a freshman this fall. I have been in marching band throughout high school and concert bands for eight years, and have a particularly strong interest in social studies. Throughout high school, I took a rigorous course load so that I could take classes in a broad range of subjects each year, comprised predominantly of honors and AP level classes. I was a part of the inaugural STEM program at my high school, and am looking to continue with engineering and history in college. I am a freshman aerospace engineering major at the University of Michigan! I have tutored countless students for over 2 years and enjoy it a lot. I love to tutor math and can help students with anything ranging from basic algebra to calculus 3.

I am a sophomore at UIUC studying agricultural and biological engineering. Eventually, I hope to work on environmental engineering related projects concerning the improvement of ecosystem management and reducing the harmful effects of pollutants in the environment. As an aspiring engineer, my favorite subjects to teach students are math and science. I've been working with kids as a swim instructor and music teacher for the past six years now. As I've begun developing experience tutoring students, my favorite part about helping students learn math and science concepts is teaching them how these different concepts interconnect and later helping them to develop critical thinking skills to work through difficult material.

I'm currently studying Computer Science at the University of Michigan. I tutor the SAT (on which I scored a 1590/1600), as well as high school-level Math, History, and English, including AP courses. The reason I tutor the SAT, specifically, is that, because I'm just out of high school, I still vividly remember the strategies I devised while rigorously studying for the SAT, from memorizing passage structures and common question types, to finding strategies to eliminate answer choices before even starting questions. Understanding these strategies doesn't have to be hard, though, and I want to help students learn these strategies without having to figure them out themselves.
