Logical Reasoning questions reward the ability to spot flawed assumptions and map the structure of an argument in seconds. Alisha's training in both political science and analytical writing sharpens exactly this skill — she teaches students to identify sufficient vs. necessary conditions, recognize common fallacy types, and eliminate answer choices systematically.

I am currently studying English literature and secondary education at Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina. I love Game of Thrones, Warhammer, and YouTube channels about world travel and languages. I am currently learning Spanish and Arabic, and I hope to be fluent in both someday. My biggest bucket list item is to travel to Bolivia and see the Salar de Uyuni. I have had extensive experience as a tutor of all ages, from helping kindergarteners learn to read and write English to working with adult students on their term papers for college. I am available to tutor reading, writing, basic Spanish, SAT/ACT prep, algebra, geometry, and study skills. As your tutor, my goal is to provide you with the tools to catch your own mistakes rather than just correcting them myself. I want to help you grow as a learner so you can use your own strengths to master the material.
I am graduate from UNC Chapel Hill where I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. I am also a member of Mensa and enjoy exercising and playing basketball or tennis in my free time.

I love math and physics, particularly as it relates to geology. Ask me about rocks in my spare time! Also a casual American history and constitutional/political buff. APUSH Text: Henrietta Calculus Text: Stewart Physics Text: Knight
I am a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley and Duke University. I received my Bachelor's degree in History and my Master's degree in Religious Studies. Since graduation I have tutored students in American History and Biblical Hebrew, which were exceedingly rewarding experiences. I am especially passionate in helping students learn to think critically, and enjoy the process of learning. While I tutor a variety of subjects, I am most enthusiastic about tutoring in History and Writing because these subjects utilize skills that students will use and cultivate throughout their lives and are applicable for many careers. I would describe my teaching philosophy as hands on and project-based learning. I strive to include fun and relevant videos, songs, and activities into my curriculum to ensure the engagement of my students. Outside of academia I like painting, baking, hiking, photography, and having game nights with friends.
I am so excited to help you work through your learning journey! I promise you're smarter than you think. Let's figure this out together!
I am comfortable teaching almost all high school math subjects.
I am a second-year college student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I'm not tutoring or buried in my textbooks, you will either find me rock climbing at the Triangle Rock Club, playing Ultimate Frisbee, working on my car, or enjoying the great outdoors (beaches, mountains, forests--you name it, I love it). On rainy weekends I enjoy tinkering with computers and old electronics, playing Pokemon, or picking at my guitar.
I am always excited to help students learn. I would characterize myself as patient and understanding, and aim to help students understand processes rather than just find answers.

Primarily specializing in ACT test prep, I've improved many of my clients' scores by 3 or more points, and helped all of my students achieve their ACT goals. In my free time, I love singing with my a cappella group, the UNC Loreleis, swimming, hanging out with my friends, traveling, going on runs, and petting every dog I see.
I am passionate about biomedical engineering, and am endlessly amazed by intricacies of the world around us. I am a freshman at Vanderbilt University currently pursuing a B.S. in Biochemistry. My inquisitive nature has fostered a love for mathematics, the natural sciences, and how they interact to produce the world we experience every day. This extends to my teaching strategy, where I emphasize the importance of conceptual understanding rather than pure memorization of equations and steps. My recent experience in a wide variety of Advanced Placement courses lends me insight to recent changes in course objectives and exam formatting.

I am Abir, a freshman at UNC. I am double majoring in biochemistry and neuroscience with a planned minor in mathematics. My dream is to attend medical school and become a surgeon. As a recent high school graduate, I know all too well the struggles and stresses of being a high-achieving student aiming for the very best college acceptances. It is because I know this feeling so well that I want to help in any way I can.
I am pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Physics. I primarily tutor physics and math subjects. I especially love tutoring physics because it is an opportunity to make sense of the physical world surrounding us through mathematical relationships. Many students have difficulty with physics at first because it introduces new methods of thinking, so I love trying to help students reach that "click" moment where everything comes together. The actual calculations of physics problems may be daunting, but I aim to strengthen fundamental concepts during my tutoring sessions so that students feel confident to tackle difficult problems on AP and other standardized tests. Outside of my academic pursuits, I love music production, sound design, and song writing.

Rishi's public policy coursework at UNC–Chapel Hill is essentially applied argumentation — weighing evidence for competing policy positions, spotting where a causal claim outruns its data, and testing whether a conclusion's assumptions actually hold. That translates directly to LSAT Logical Reasoning, where he teaches students to map out an argument's moving parts and pre-phrase answers on question types like point-at-issue and principle questions before the answer choices create confusion. Rated 5.0 by students.
I'm a rising junior at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I was born and raised in Charlotte, NC, and I love helping others understand new subjects.

I've had some math and language tutoring experience at my local Chinese school and math and public speaking coaching experience in high school. I tutor a wide variety of subjects in science, english, and math, as well as public speaking. I especially enjoy tutoring public speaking and math. I'm a versatile tutor who doesn't hesitate to use every resource available. My hobbies are reading, running, and playing PC games. I'm looking forward to giving you an extra edge in your studies!
I am inclusive and accepting of students from all walks of life, regardless of identity (race, color, religion, gender, gender expression, age, national origin, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, military status, citizenship status, etc). Instruction is only available in Spanish, however.
I am open to helping any student of any age with nearly any subject (math, reading, writing, biology, chemistry, economics, civics, Spanish etc). I'm also happy to help with test prep (hello SAT and ACT takers), as well as college application assistance. I'm a strong believer in a patient, non-judgmental, non-intimidating approach to tutoring, and I really try to prioritize the comfort of my students. As someone who has used tutoring myself in some of my harder classes in college, I understand that not everything comes easily to everyone, so I want all of my students to feel comfortable asking any and all questions they might have, or going over a topic as many times as needed to understand it. I'm all about friendly, humble service!

Frequently Asked Questions
Logical Reasoning makes up two of the four scored sections on the LSAT, meaning it accounts for roughly 50% of your total score. This section tests your ability to analyze arguments, identify logical flaws, and understand complex reasoning—skills that directly predict success in law school coursework. Mastering Logical Reasoning is often the fastest way to boost your overall LSAT performance.
Many students struggle with pacing—the section requires reading dense arguments and answering questions in just 35 minutes. Others find it difficult to distinguish between similar answer choices or to identify the specific logical flaw in an argument. Additionally, some test-takers overthink questions or get distracted by irrelevant details, which can lead to careless mistakes even when they understand the underlying logic.
Most students see meaningful improvement within 4-8 weeks of focused study, with score gains of 5-10 points being common. However, the amount of improvement depends on your starting point and study intensity. Personalized 1-on-1 instruction helps identify your specific weak areas—whether that's flaw identification, conditional reasoning, or time management—so you can target practice more effectively and see faster results.
The LSAT tests several core question types: Strengthen/Weaken, Assumption, Flaw in the Argument, Main Point, Parallel Reasoning, and Inference questions. Each type requires a slightly different approach and skill set. A tutor can teach you the specific strategies for each question type, help you recognize them quickly, and practice identifying the logical structure that makes each one unique.
Effective Logical Reasoning practice involves drilling individual question types before taking full timed sections, reviewing every question you miss to understand why, and gradually building speed without sacrificing accuracy. Personalized tutoring helps you create a practice schedule tailored to your pace, identify patterns in the questions you miss, and develop strategies that work for your learning style—rather than following a generic study plan.
Time management on Logical Reasoning comes down to reading efficiently, recognizing question types quickly, and knowing when to move on. Expert tutors teach you to identify the core argument in just a few seconds, spot what each question is asking before reading all five answers, and develop a personal pacing strategy based on which question types are hardest for you. With practice, most students can answer questions more confidently and quickly.
Varsity Tutors connects you with expert tutors in Raleigh who specialize in LSAT prep and have deep experience teaching Logical Reasoning strategies. During your first session, you'll work with a tutor to identify your specific challenges—whether that's timing, question type recognition, or logical reasoning skills—so they can tailor their instruction to your needs from day one.
Your first session is focused on assessment and strategy. A tutor will review your current performance, understand your timeline for test day, and identify which question types or reasoning skills need the most work. You'll also discuss your learning style and goals, so the tutor can create a personalized plan that fits your schedule and maximizes your score improvement before test day.
