Throughout my childhood and my high school career, test-taking always seemed to be a challenge. I pushed to get the best scores I could, but something was wrong. I had a lack of direction. I needed a mentor. When I had my first mentor, I wasn't sure he would be the right one. We worked together for some time, but some of his characteristics were not compatible with my liking. After about two more mentors, I finally selected an intelligent, organized, and serious mentor that was heavily invested in my success. To have a mentor that is invested in your success is a fantastic feeling. Suddenly, my motivation increased, my grades improved and I was accepted into very good colleges and programs. That was my goal. I couldn't reach that goal without my mentor. My mentor taught me more than just English, Writing, ACT/SAT, he taught me humility, determination, and confidence. For these reasons, I am still in contact with him today. As a tutor-- mentor-- I will help my mentee achieve their goals (academic and mental). I will work with them hour by hour to the best of my ability to deliver what is necessary to achieve their goals. Education matters and your knowledge is tested through your scores, so they matter. The only way to win is through effective collaboration, mental determination, and hard work. I want to work with my mentee to figure out what I can do for him or her.
