About Me
I am a recently retired civil engineer. For 34 -1/2 years, I worked as a civilian for the Department of the Air Force. My last position was as the Deputy Base Civil Engineer at Davis-Monthan AFB in Tucson, AZ. I am 57 years-old and originally from the Pittsburgh, PA area. I graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering and Engineering and Public Policy. Upon graduation, I began working for the AF at Langley AFB in southeastern Virgina, staying there for nearly 28 years before recently finishing my career in Tucson, AZ. Tutoring in math and science has always been a passion of mine. I am a good communicator and have a knack for knowing how to explain a concept based on the student's understanding and preferred style of learning. I believe strongly that problem solving builds knowledge. In my tutoring, I will patiently work through a type of problem with the student's input, and then strive for the student to be able to independently solve that type of problem. I believe strongly in education and want to "give back" to students, as I learned so much from teachers when I was younger. I am happily married with three daughters, ages 30, 26, and soon to be 16.
Hobbies & Interests
My interests include investing, reading, and outdoor activities such as swimming, biking, hiking, and golf.
