I am a junior Mechanical Engineering major at Yale, and I hope to become a Naval Aviator after college. I am also a varsity sailor, and enjoy playing music with friends when I can get some free time. I have been tutoring my fellow students throughout my entire academic career, and I would best describe my tutoring style as one that adapts to each students' needs. For example, I have always tried to frame questions in a different way so that the student can better understand the question. Some students need visual representations of numbers and systems to understand them, and others benefit more by understanding the concepts behind each formula. I prefer to tutor in math and physics, and especially with real world application problems. I hope to help students improve their standardized test scores and their understanding of the math and sciences so that they can achieve their academic goals!

I'm a graduate of Princeton University (2009), with a degree in Comparative Literature. I'll be receiving my masters degree in English from Grand Valley State University this fall and I'm looking forward to working with students like you! I've been teaching and tutoring students since 2008 and I specialize in English, Reading, Writing, Essays, and College Entrance Test Prep.
I'm an Iowa native who moved to Nashville for graduate school. My background is in the life sciences; I have a Masters from Vanderbilt in Chemical and Physical Biology, and my undergraduate degree is in Biochemistry. However, my education has been well rounded and I have interests in philosophy, literature, writing, and history. I have extensive research experience, and I hope to share my passion for science with students. I have experience mentoring undergraduate students during my graduate school education to help them gain research experience. I am a very patient teacher and have the ability to see problems from the students perspective; my tutoring style adapts to each student's individual needs, but centers on getting each student to come to their solutions rather than following any one formula for success. I have a lot of experience with standardized testing, and have taken multiple AP subject tests in addition to the ACT, SAT, and GRE examinations.
I am a student at Vanderbilt University, majoring in Neuroscience while on the pre-med track. In the future, I hope to become a pediatrician. I have experience with and tutor in a wide range of subjects, and am most passionate about helping students with standardized exams. I know from personal experience that any exam score can be improved with studying and practice, no matter how frustrating or impossible it may seem. As a tutor, my goal is to listen to and address my students' needs as thoroughly as possible. Outside of academics, I love to fold origami, watch Criminal Minds, and hang out with my dog.
I'm a sophomore at Vanderbilt University studying computer science, currently focusing on iOS and game development. I like growing as a person, but I find it much more interesting and rewarding to grow other people. Seeing a student change, not in intellect but in perspective, is fascinating. I like to focus more on concepts rather than memorization so that students will have the tools to excel in any facet of academia, beyond some random test that holds too much significance.
I am currently a sophomore pursuing a bachelor of arts degree in Medicine, Health, and Society. Being a student, Ive understood the frustration of not knowing what to do or who to turn to in the moment I dont understand something. This feeling can be very disheartening, but having the right person to guide you can make all the difference. For struggling students, I want to be that person to help them reach their full potential. In high school, I tutored people (mostly high school students like myself at the time) within the community, and it was personally rewarding every time I saw a student gain confidence in their studies.
I am a veteran college chemistry professor with a Ph.D. from Yale who has taught Organic Chemistry and General Chemistry I many times. I have also taught Introductory Chemistry to students who had never had chemistry before and also a General, Organic, and Biochemistry course for health professions. I look at chemistry as a set of skills to be learned, similar to learning a sport or a musical instrument. I can show you what to do, but to really learn you need to do things yourself.
I am a second year student in the Vanderbilt University School of Engineering. I am double majoring in Math and Computer Science and minoring in Engineering Management. During the summer session,I taught the SSAT and reading classes, acted as a teachers' assistant and tutored individual scholars. I am very passionate about STEM and advancements in the tech field. I strongly value education, something my parents instilled in me from a young age, and I hope to spread my love of learning and the doors that a strong education can open to those around me. I understand that my education is a privilege, and I want to do my part to help every person have the same opportunities that I had.

I am currently applying for medical school and working towards a masters in public health. I have experience working with many different ages ranging from middle school to college level students. Most of my experience is with math and sciences as well as test prep for English ACT exams. I can tutor in math (pre calculus, trigonometry, algebra, geometry) sciences (biological sciences, chemistry, physics) and English. My favorite subject to tutor is algebra because it is like a puzzle, and who does not like a good puzzle? My teaching philosophy consists of learning about the students' interests and providing a way to relate their interests into the work they are doing so it can be more meaningful to them. I have found that the more a subject means to a student personally, the better they do in the subject. So, in this way it is possible to turn a subject weakness into a strength and passion.

I am eager to help students prepare for college applications, including mastering standardized tests, college essays, and study strategies. I am also driven to teach young students to become better overall writers and critical readers as these skills will affect all facets of their educational career. My ultimate goal, however, is to go beyond the material a student is currently struggling with by teaching them how to successfully identify and address areas that need improvement. The ability to teach one's self efficiently and effectively is a skill that will be invaluable throughout their entire lives.
I am a junior at Vanderbilt University studying Child Development and Art History, and I have always had a passion for tutoring and mentorship. Although most of my tutoring experience has been for elementary students in reading and math, I am most excited about tutoring middle and high schoolers because the subjects that are learned during these times are so much more detailed, dynamic, and interesting! These were also the years where my love of learning really took shape, and getting the opportunity to foster this same love and appreciation for learning in other students excites me.
