Here in the Houston area, I've worked with Testmasters, C2 Education and Test Geek. I implement the Socratic Method into my teaching style: I ask plenty of questions that force students to deeply understand the material and to explain how they know why their answer is correct or not. I also believe it is my duty to equip students with tools to become better learners themselves which entails welcoming unique and creative approaches to solving problems, encouraging students to connect the relationships between different topics and subjects, and recommending using external sources and materials to learn and supplement understanding. I am a Rice University graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Cognitive Sciences and a minor in Spanish. In the fall, I plan on beginning a master's in Human-Computer Interaction at University College London. I have extensive experience helping students with Math, Writing, Spanish, and the ACT. My primary goal as a tutor is to develop increased academic confidence and independent problem solving skills. In addition to tutoring, I enjoy running, playing piano, going to the beach, and learning new languages.

I am currently a double major at Rice University working towards a B.A. in mathematics and philosophy and expecting to graduate in December 2015. My education is geared towards a future in risk analysis and thus is heavily dependent on high level mathematics. My favorite subject is statistics. Not only does statistics incorporate other disciplines like calculus, but it also is very useful for modeling the real world. I have about one year of experience tutoring algebra and pre-algebra with good results.
