I am currently an adjunct faculty in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Washington State University Vancouver. In 2019, I received my second M.S. degree in mathematics at Oregon State University under the supervision of Professor Vrushali Bokil.

I am a certified HR professional with 10 years of experience across a wide range of specializations including employee relations, leaves of absence, multi-state payroll operations, and legal immigration. I am a graduate of Yale University, with a passion for helping students gain admission to their college of choice through admissions essay review and feedback.
I am most passionate about tutoring is mechanics since this is usually a student's first exposure to synthesizing physical theories with mathematical concepts. Overall, I take a conversational approach to tutoring where I try my best to relate the material to the student's life experiences while drawing more conventional analogies that are proven to make the concept click.
I am an English teacher in Round Rock, Texas for students from grades 6-AP. My passion for teaching is rooted in my interest in my students and my desire to invest in them. In May 2017, I completed my Master of Arts in Teaching. I also have a Bachelor of Arts in English from Biola University as well as a California Single Subject English Credential and Texas English Credential. These programs and my work in the classroom have been meaningful experiences for me to develop my skills as an educator. I appreciate the need to address my students' according to their specific needs and capabilities. One of my favorite aspects of teaching is adapting instruction to suit the students I am working with, so that I get to see the moment when lessons "click" for them.
I am beginning work as a management consultant in the engineering space this summer (2020).
I am currently a graduate level student that will begin work towards my Human Health and Environmental Systems MPH at Oregon Health and Science University in the fall. I held my first tutoring job in high school, where I spent after school and summers working with local elementary school students on reading, writing, and math skills. I loved the rare chance to see the look on a child's face when a tricky concept they had been struggling with suddenly made sense.
I'm a senior in college studying Public Health. As someone who has benefited from tutoring, I am passionate about teaching subject matter that not only is personalized for a student's learning needs but also empowers them. I have experience tutoring elementary, middle and high school mathematics. Additionally, I have experience in editing/writing college essays, proofreading and with research (I have conducted research with Emory University School of Medicine, Oregon Health & Science University, NIH/NIDDK and been accepted to a REU by the National Science Foundation). Upon graduation, I will be attending medical school fall of 2023.
I'm studying to become a commercial airline pilot at the University of North Dakota. I believe that education and knowledge is the first stepping stone in success, that is why I strive to be the best I can be in my studies. I'm more than willing to help someone past this first stepping stone to success and to help the community reach the 'next level' together. My patience and my ability to make a subject understandable at many different levels of thinking is a very important tutoring trait that I have. I can work with someone and figure out what the best way for them to understand the topic.
I am a passionate individual who believe in collaboration before competition. I understand that everyone has their own journey and want to help students like myself to reach their goal a little quicker. I love explaining things to people because I believe that you can learn more about the concepts when you teach them to others. Looking forward to teaching and learning with you all.
I have tutored and/or taught mathematics to elementary, middle, and high school students over 20 years. I enjoy teaching high school mathematics the most, i.e. Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Trigonometry, Precalculus, and Calculus. I am passionate about teaching mathematics because education is about students developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills by forming relationships with their peers and teachers. In my classroom, students learn best and develop those relationships in a safe, respectful, challenging environment that fosters inquiry, authentic experiences, collaboration, and provides appropriate support.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, Varsity Tutors connects students across all 7 school districts in Vancouver with personalized tutoring support. Whether your student attends a school in Vancouver School District, Camas-Washougal, or any of the other local districts, we match them with tutors who understand Washington's academic standards and can support their specific curriculum needs.
With nearly 45,000 students across Vancouver's schools, we see strong demand for math and science tutoring, particularly as students progress through middle and high school. We also work with many students on reading comprehension, writing skills, and test preparation for standardized assessments. Our tutors tailor instruction to each student's specific challenges, whether that's algebra, chemistry, or college entrance exams.
Personalized 1-on-1 instruction is particularly effective because tutors can focus on the exact standards and benchmarks your student needs to master, rather than moving at a class pace. With Vancouver's average student-teacher ratio of 16.3:1 in classrooms, tutoring fills that gap by providing dedicated attention to fill knowledge gaps and accelerate learning in areas where students are struggling.
The first session is an opportunity for the tutor to understand your student's learning style, current academic level, and specific goals. The tutor will assess what's working well and where support is needed, then develop a personalized plan aligned with your student's school curriculum and learning objectives. This foundation ensures that every session moving forward is targeted and productive.
Absolutely. Varsity Tutors connects students with tutors experienced in preparing for Washington State assessments, the SAT, ACT, AP exams, and other standardized tests. Our tutors understand the specific format and content of these exams and can help students build test-taking strategies alongside content mastery, which significantly improves performance and confidence.
Many students see improvement within the first few weeks of consistent tutoring, though the timeline depends on the subject and how far behind they are. The key is personalized, focused instruction—research shows that 1-on-1 tutoring is significantly more effective than classroom instruction alone for catching students up. We recommend starting as soon as you notice a struggle so tutoring can support your student before gaps widen.
We consider your student's subject needs, learning style, grade level, and goals to connect them with a tutor who's the right fit. Our matching process takes into account both expertise and personality—a good tutor-student relationship is essential for effective learning. If a match isn't working perfectly, we can connect your student with a different tutor.
Yes, tutoring sessions can be scheduled around your family's schedule, whether that's after school, evenings, weekends, or during the school day. We work with Vancouver families to find a consistent tutoring rhythm that supports your student's learning without adding stress to your schedule. Most students benefit from regular weekly sessions, but frequency can be adjusted based on your needs and goals.
