I believe each student is unique. Each person can learn despite his/her age. A good teacher should be able to see and respect student's individuality and to teach based on each student's learning style and learning curve. It's teachers' responsibility to find ways to make the learning process pleasant, fun and easy to absorb, memorize and utilize. To make learning passionate, confident and rewarding. I have been an ESL/Chinese teacher and tutor in private homes, schools, universities, to new immigrants in US; as well as a procedure/process/system trainer and a business consultant in multilingual and multi-culture business settings for over 25 years. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Languages and Literature Education from East China Normal University, a Master of Science in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) at college and adult level from SUNY-Albany, and a MBA in International Business, Marketing and Global Entrepreneurship from Syracuse University. I am passionate in language teaching, coaching, management consulting, and bridging people from East and West through language teaching and culture awareness. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, writing, playing cello and classical guitar, traveling, and photography, and learning new languages...

What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe each student is unique. Each person can learn despite his/her age. A good teacher should be able to see and respect a student's individuality, and teach based on each student's learning style and learning curve. It's teachers' responsibility to find ways to make the learning process pleasant, fun and easy to absorb, memorize and utilize. To make learning passionate, confident and rewarding.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
My first session typically would be spent to get to know the student, his/her personality, background, to evaluate, to learn what his/her goal is from learning the subject, and his/her expectation from me; also to learn what the student finds difficulty or struggles with while learning the subject.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
While I am teaching, I will tailor my teaching methods based on each student's unique learning style, and guide the student to imitate the learning process in order to study in a way that mostly fit him/her, and which he/she feels comfortable with.
