Certified Tutor

I graduated with honors from Brown University in 2016 with a double major in English Literature and Biology. After graduating, I worked for two years as a research scientist in an immunology lab at Stanford's School of Medicine, where I collaborated on a project investigating the molecular basis for the induction of Multiple Sclerosis and other autoimmune diseases. I am currently at the University of Rochester researching ways to increase the efficacy of cancer immunotherapies, and I will begin medical school here at the U of R in August of 2020. Over the course of my time in the lab, I have authored three papers, with another in preparation for submission. While at Brown, I spent three years working with students in grades 6-12 as a writing coach and as an AP English, AP History, and AP Biology tutor. I also served as a high school biology instructor at The Wheeler School in Providence, Rhode Island, where I taught elective courses on the fundamentals of cellular and molecular biology, genome engineering, and laboratory techniques. My experiences have cultivated in me a passion for teaching and a love of learning that I bring with me into my tutoring sessions, one I hope to share with my students by meeting them where they are, defining clear goals, listening attentively, and playing to their strengths.
