My name is Berenice Flores, and I am thrilled to be part of this tutoring community. As an aspiring environmental engineer passionate about equity, justice, and positive change, I am determined to impact our environment significantly. My journey has been characterized by resilience, hard work, and a commitment to fighting for what I believe in.
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a minor in Math, I have always been drawn to the complexities of environmental challenges. Through a program called Peace Engineering, I have honed my skills and expanded my knowledge in finding innovative solutions to pressing environmental issues. Engineering goes beyond just numbers and equations; it's about creating a sustainable and inclusive world for everyone.
As someone who faces discrimination due to race and gender, I have had to overcome numerous obstacles in my pursuit of knowledge and expertise. However, these challenges have only strengthened my resolve to succeed. I am an unwavering advocate for inclusivity, diversity, and equal opportunities, and I am committed to creating a supportive learning environment for all my students.
Beyond my academic pursuits, I actively participate in several organizations that align with my values. As a Chi Epsilon Honor Society, ASCE, and SWE member, I have been fortunate to collaborate with like-minded individuals who share my vision for a better future. Moreover, serving as the president of my student organization has allowed me to develop leadership skills and further promote positive change in the community.
In my role as a tutor, I am dedicated to not only imparting knowledge but also fostering a love for learning. By encouraging open dialogue and providing personalized guidance, I aim to empower my students to overcome challenges and reach their full potential. Education is the key to unlocking a world of opportunities, and I am committed to helping my students achieve their academic goals.
One of the core values that I hold dear is being loyal to myself. Understanding who I am and what I stand for has been crucial in charting my path as an individual and a future environmental engineer.
