I am in the midst of the medical school admissions process, but hopefully, it will conclude soon. I have a comprehensive understanding of subjects ranging from the social sciences to math. As a tutor, I want to instill confidence into my students. I want them to not only material itself, but I also want my students to find the best learning methods to be successful in their academic work and beyond.

I am more passionate about the latter, and within the humanities I am most passionate about philosophy and English. The most important thing I've learned from those two fields (and the thing I'd most want to pass on to students) is how to find the right words for thoughts - this is important, not just because it allows people to express themselves well to others, but also because it affords clarity to people regarding their own opinions and ideas. Shortly after I graduated from college I embarked on an extended trip around Europe lasting from October 2017 to May 2018. My interests include traveling, piano, and reading.
I'm not teaching biology to undergraduate majors at ASU, I research topics in aquatic ecology. Understanding the connectedness and patterns of environmental processes in aquatic ecosystems drives my passion to become an ecologist!
I am currently in the process of applying to Law School. I have tutored middle school and high school students in subjects ranging from 5th grade reading to geometry to the SAT. While I am happy and able to tutor a number of subjects, I am most passionate about Test Prep because these scores are very important to students, and I enjoy helping them to conquer the test and succeed. My teaching philosophy can be described as a coaching style in which, like athletics, I believe learning the subject matter, good techniques, and constant practice are the best ways to achieving better scores.
I'm Liz! I'm so excited to help my students reach their academic goals. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Government and Performance and Communication Arts, and a Master's Degree in Chinese Politics. With a long academic career and lots of experience with standardized tests, I'm ready help prepare my students for their next steps and help them succeed and build confidence where they are now. I can't wait to meet you!
I am a graduate of Harvard University. I received a dual Bachelor of Arts in Astrophysics and Earth & Planetary Science. After completing my undergraduate degree, I worked full-time as a post-baccalaureate researcher at Columbia University's Astrophysics Laboratory in New York City. Currently, I'm working toward a PhD in Exploration Systems Design at Arizona State University. I first starting tutoring in high school and have continued for nearly a decade since. I have tutored many students across all levels of mathematics from the elementary to the undergraduate level. Additionally, I have tutored several students in astronomy at the undergraduate level. Calculus is my favorite topic to tutor, as I find the concepts to be incredibly fun to both learn and teach. In addition to tutoring, I also worked as a multivariable calculus teaching assistant for the Harvard Mathematics Department. I firmly believe that anyone can learn math. There's no such things as a "math person." It's just a matter of finding the right teacher. Outside of my academic pursuits, I also enjoy flying single-engine airplanes, writing screenplays, playing a relaxing game of golf, and training in martial arts.
I am especially committed to supporting first-generation college students, those for whom English is a second language, and working adults as they navigate the challenges of higher ed. Nevertheless, I have taught and mentored graduate students at Harvard and talented undergrads in a variety of disciplines and welcome helping with theses. In addition to teaching, I have a background in publishing and editing, and have been a writer since childhood. Language creates reality, and interpreting and using it well opens many doors. I delight to see students realize their capacities and expand their universe.
I am an Arizona native. Upon graduating from Desert Mountain High School, I attended Rice University and I received my Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology with a business focus. At Rice I was a student/athlete representing the Division I Owls in track and field. After several years experience voluntarily tutoring friends and family members I became a professional private tutor my junior year of college. My senior year, I took advantage of the opportunity to reach more students, creating a small private tutoring company in Houston in which I served as lead tutor and conducted all business operations. After graduating from college, I moved back to Arizona and am excited to have the opportunity to continue my passion of helping young men and women achieve academic excellence through tutoring. I have experience tutoring elementary through college-aged students in all academic disciplines. My primary areas of focus include: math, English, and standardized test prep. In my spare time I enjoy exercising, following sports, and spending time with friends and family.
I am always in the search for knowledge; I love learning new things and I love sharing that which I have learned. I believe there is power in the ability to speak a second or even a third language, and in the same way that I would like to learn more languages I believe it is only fair to help others learn them as well.
I am a great tutor because I am young and enthusiastic. I can relate to the kids I tutor because I recently experienced the classes and standardized tests that they are taking. I use an informal style so that the student can feel comfortable asking questions. I try to connect personally to the students so that they have fun and look forward to tutoring. I tutor standardized tests and most high school classes. I have two years of experience tutoring and I spent both this summer and last summer teaching full-time.
I'm Annelisa, originally from Phoenix, Arizona. I recently graduated from Yale University, where I studied art and its interactions with political journalism and science. I'm happy to tutor on a wide range of subjects, especially writing, college application, and the SAT!
I'm a rising senior at Yale University. My two main passions in life are biology and English--people might see them as completely opposite subjects, but I think they're just two sides of the same coin! As a tutor, I believe that flexibility and personalization are key. Above all, my goal is to help people not just do well in their assignments but also truly understand the material. I look forward to working with you!
I am interested in bettering your educational experience in the Life Sciences, Chemistry, and Math! If you or your child is struggling with math or science courses or, perhaps, is preparing for a standardized test that requires application knowledge in these areas then I may be the guy for you! I am also interested in tutoring individuals who are working towards acceptance into a professional school that might have been out of school for a while.
I'm always trying out new techniques that match the unique strengths of each individual student. I look forward to helping you reach your goals, whether it's writing an essay, practicing Spanish or learning calculus!
I am a recent graduate from Arizona State University. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelors in philosophy. I will be attending the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law in the fall of 2012. I have always been successful in academics and enjoy school thoroughly. I have also served as a Military Police Officer for the Arizona Army National Guard for over four years.
I am a graduate of Stanford University. I received my BA in Philosophy, and continued with graduate studies at Brown University where I received my MA in philosophy and completed all my course requirements for a PhD in philosophy. After several adventurous decades including travel in Africa and Asia, building a house in the Gulf Islands of British Columbia, running a business designing and selling jewelry, and building alternative straw bale buildings on my property in the White Mountains of Arizona, I started tutoring math at Northland Pioneer College in Snowflake and Show Low, AZ. The past two years I have been spending most of my time in the Phoenix area where I am tutoring math, ranging from arithmetic to algebra to trig and calculus, with my main love and main focus being on algebra. What I love about algebra is the detective work---figuring out what needs to be done to solve a problem instead of just attacking it with a calculator. My tutoring style is to adapt my explanations to the needs of my students---there are always several ways to do any given problem, and I ask questions to determine which way will work best for an individual student. In my spare time, I am an artist, in ceramics and fused glass; and I love reading, mainly non-fiction in the area of personal growth and development.
I am fluent in English (professional) and Mandarin (native). From my 25+ years in universities and major companies in the industry (as engineer, software developer, team manager), I worked extensively, face-to-face, with people and groups of diversified culture and professional background in roles from teaching, training for 1:1 or large audience, customer support world wide, product demonstration and publication presentations at leading industrial conferences.
I'm currently the co-founder of a software-as-a-service company based in NYC. I left law to pursue my passion for technology and I've learned a tremendous amount by working in the tech startup space.
I'm a current medical student at the University of Arizona College of Medicine with undergraduate degrees from Washington and Lee in chemical engineering and anthropology. I have extensive experience in tutoring and teaching since 2010, and am ready to help you with your learning needs! I focus on standardized testing (SAT/ACT) and also tutor in a wide range of math, English, and Spanish classes. In my free time, I like to run, do CrossFit, volunteer, and watch TV!
I have over two years of tutoring and teaching experience at Case Western Reserve University. I served as a Supplemental Instructor for ENGR 145 (Chemistry of Materials), where I created worksheets, led review sessions, and helped students develop strong conceptual foundations. I later worked as a Teaching Assistant for ENGR 210 (Circuits and Instrumentation), grading assignments and assisting students with hands-on circuit building and lab work. As a Biomedical Engineering major on the pre-med track, I specialize in tutoring pre-health and engineering courses, including General and Physical Chemistry, Math, Biology, Physics, and Anatomy and Physiology. I also provide MCAT preparation in the B/B, C/P, and P/S sections. My teaching approach focuses on clear explanations, active problem-solving, and adapting to each student's learning style. I strive to make challenging material approachable while helping students build confidence and independent learning skills.
I am a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles- Letters of Science department. I received my Bachelor's in biological sciences in June 2020. While in school, I worked part-time as an Accounts Payable Assistant for the library business services and I volunteered a lot of my time providing assistance to hospitalized geriatric populations at UCLA medical center. I was also part of a free clinic community where I provided preventive medicine advice and performed glucose and blood pressure exams on the medically underserved communities in South Los Angeles. In addition, as part of a Peer Mentorship Program, I guided incoming freshmen in getting adjusted to the college environment and provided resources for academic services available on campus. Since graduation, I have worked as an Accounts Receivable Specialist, tutored students on Upchieve and Junior Achievement online platforms, and improved my learning and organizational skills using skillshare. While I am interested in tutoring a wide range of subjects, I am most passionate about teaching Science, Math, and English. I am a strong advocate for education and I truly believe in the power of collaborative learning and helping students achieve their academic goals. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family, going on hikes, and participating in volleyball and badminton matches!
I am a graduate student at Arizona State University studying Human and Social Dimensions of Science and Technology, and am passionate about the value of education at all levels. Previously I worked at the US Department of Energy on energy technology in Washington, DC. I have enjoyed setting up roots in Phoenix over the past few years, and am excited about sharing my knowledge and passion for learning with others in the area.I have a knack for explaining complicated ideas to people in simple terms, enjoy deepening people's understandings of issues, and value education highly. All of these characteristics make me an ideal tutor for Varsity Tutors, and I look forward to the opportunity to share my academic experiences and skills with tutees. In addition, I can give an expert's perspective on a wide range of topics including political science, public policy, various topics in science and technology, as well as an academic success-oriented mindset.
I am a graduate of the Creighton University School of Medicine where I received my M.D. I received my Bachelor's of Science in Biomedical Sciences with a minor in Philosophy at Marquette University in 2018. During my time at Marquette, I tutored General Biology and General Chemistry, and I was a teaching assistant for Organic Chemistry lab. Not only did I enjoy teaching students my age, but I also pursued teaching opportunities for younger students in high school and middle school. I was a gross anatomy instructor for high school students taking tours through the cadaver labs and I was one of the founders of the Marquette Brain Brigade, where a group of undergraduate students came up with demos/lessons in neuroscience to teach middle school students. Moreover, I sought out private tutoring opportunities at a company called Huntington Learning Center both during undergrad and during medical school where I tutored a wide variety of subjects, including ACT/SAT, for virtually all age groups. I am very comfortable teaching various subjects and ages, and I am a laid back and flexible person. The subjects I am most comfortable teaching would be the sciences anywhere from the basic level to graduate school level. I am so grateful for the educators that allowed me to pursue my dream of becoming a doctor, and I would love to pass it on and help younger students achieve their goals.
I am Arizona born and raised, my education includes an NYC law school degree with an undergraduate BS degree from University of Miami. In college I majored in Health Sciences with minors in Psychology and Public Health while in law school I leaned into corporate law and finance. Between law school and college I've pretty much covered every topic under the sun! In my spare time, I enjoy reading (especially mystery novels), pretending I'm a chef, and meditating.
I am personally most interested in languages, math, history, literature, music, all forms of art, scientific investigation of the universe, and games which allow for a creative and competitive outlet. Let's learn something together!
I'm a junior in chemical engineering at ASU Barrett and I specialize in math and physics tutoring. If you need help with any of your math subjects or have trouble with physics and chemistry I'm the one to call. I love working with students and each and everybody's success is my top priority.
I am a first-year student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science at Harvey Mudd College. Throughout all four years of high school, I tutored my peers in subjects such as chemistry, algebra, geometry, calculus, and statistics. Passionate about sharing my learning with younger students in the community, I was also a primary instructor for the Kumon Math and Reading Center, where I spent three years teaching math and reading to students who ranged from pre-K to 12th grade. Additionally, as an assistant instructor for the Arizona Science Center's Camp Innovation, I empowered youth by delivering science programming to children between the ages of four and seven. Through such experiences, I've realized the impact that I can have as a tutor.
I am a rising 2L working towards my law degree at Arizona State. I specialize in helping students with Reading and Writing skills. I'm here to help students succeed in any way that I can by using my own academic experiences. Outside of the classroom, I love sports, hiking, and travel.
I have an MBA from Rice University and both real-world business experience and teaching experience. Most recently, I taught a first-year college course in Microeconomics for nine years, in addition to other classes in the university's international trade program. My students came from over 30 countries! I've worked in over a dozen countries for the U.S. Department of Commerce, as well as for private firms in building engineering and the energy industry. I enjoy helping students gain competence and master their chosen area of study.
I am a great teacher with over 8 years teaching experience teaching children from Grades K through 12. I received my B.S. in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y. and a certificate in Special Education from the Hudson County Schools of Technology in North Bergen, New Jersey. I worked as a tutor for the State Tutoring Program in Arizona from 2013 to 2016. From the academic year of 2016 to 2017, I worked as a Substitute Teacher with Kelly Educational Services teaching Mathematics and English to elementary kids at the Roosevelt School district in Phoenix, Arizona.
I am a rising sophomore at Duke University. My dream is to become a doctor someday, so I am currently on the pre-med track and taking several chemistry and biology courses. Although my current focus is in science, I have a passion for history and culture. This past summer I participated in a study abroad program in Costa Rica, where I had the privilege of meeting and speaking with people from several different backgrounds, such as an indigenous tribe and the "ancianos" from a senior living home. Because this invaluable experience, I am continuing my studies in Spanish language and culture. Because I graduated high school only a year ago, the subjects that I was taught are still fresh in my mind, especially AP courses. I am very familiar with the AP curriculum, as I have taken 10 AP classes over the course of high school, and spent a fair amount of time preparing and learning strategies for taking the tests. I enjoy learning and teaching a broad range of subjects, but I have the most experience tutoring in Algebra, Spanish, and History. My primary concern is to foster a positive environment for the student, so they feel confident in asking me questions and comfortable making mistakes. In my free time, I play badminton, read fiction, serve the community, and go on the occasional hunt for Pokmon.

I just returned from spending my last semester studying in Prague, Czech Republic, travelling extensively and broadening my perspective. I also received the Flinn Scholarship, a prestigious full-ride award given to 20 of the best and brightest students in Arizona out of a pool of nearly 600.
I'm a graduate of Arizona State University with Barrett, the Honors College. I received my BSE in biomedical engineering in 2022 and I'll finish my education with an MS in 2023. I've tutored math (K-12) since 2016 with an emphasis on algebra and high school test prep concepts. It's never too early or too late to build foundational math skills. I believe a student at any age or level can benefit from practicing core skills while introducing logical and efficient solutions into their math repertoire!
I am here because I thoroughly enjoy working with students and watching them succeed in their academic studies. As a Mathematics major at the University of Arizona (currently a junior), I have extensive experience teaching and tutoring: I have been a teacher's assistant for a Calculus II section at my university and have spent a great deal of time assisting students with non-math related subjects as well such as English and essay-writing, time management and study skills techniques, and standardized test prep (SAT).
I am not studying or performing research, I enjoy playing video games, card games, or role-playing games with my friends. I also am an amateur engineer, participating in the online community of laser enthusiasts. Together, we construct circuitry, design housings, and align lenses to create not laser pens for pets, but high-powered, scientific lab lasers.
