I am more passionate about the latter, and within the humanities I am most passionate about philosophy and English. The most important thing I've learned from those two fields (and the thing I'd most want to pass on to students) is how to find the right words for thoughts - this is important, not just because it allows people to express themselves well to others, but also because it affords clarity to people regarding their own opinions and ideas. Shortly after I graduated from college I embarked on an extended trip around Europe lasting from October 2017 to May 2018. My interests include traveling, piano, and reading.

I am a great tutor because I am young and enthusiastic. I can relate to the kids I tutor because I recently experienced the classes and standardized tests that they are taking. I use an informal style so that the student can feel comfortable asking questions. I try to connect personally to the students so that they have fun and look forward to tutoring. I tutor standardized tests and most high school classes. I have two years of experience tutoring and I spent both this summer and last summer teaching full-time.
I have an MBA from Rice University and both real-world business experience and teaching experience. Most recently, I taught a first-year college course in Microeconomics for nine years, in addition to other classes in the university's international trade program. My students came from over 30 countries! I've worked in over a dozen countries for the U.S. Department of Commerce, as well as for private firms in building engineering and the energy industry. I enjoy helping students gain competence and master their chosen area of study.
I am here because I thoroughly enjoy working with students and watching them succeed in their academic studies. As a Mathematics major at the University of Arizona (currently a junior), I have extensive experience teaching and tutoring: I have been a teacher's assistant for a Calculus II section at my university and have spent a great deal of time assisting students with non-math related subjects as well such as English and essay-writing, time management and study skills techniques, and standardized test prep (SAT).
I'm excited to share my love of science and learning through tutoring! I tutor Biology, Ecology, and standardized test prep. From high school to Stanford, I have learned that lectures are often difficult for students to follow. They can lose confidence in subjects because the information is not presented in a way that is effective for their learning. My job is to work with students to figure out the best way to learn challenging material. This may involve breaking down complicated ideas into consumable parts, discussing concepts back and forth, or working through practice problems together. Ultimately, I believe that students should never feel unintelligent because they don't immediately grasp a concept. I am committed to empowering students to approach challenging subjects with confidence.
I have been a tutor for over five years. I enjoy helping others to learn the subjects that I believe I am proficient enough to teach. I offer tutoring in calculus, physics, and computer science. While I aim to help my students understand a concept, the motivation to improve and learn must come from them. I will do my best to inspire such a mentality.
I am no longer eligible to be a tutor, I have been looking for a way to keep doing what I love!
I am currently an engineer in the design and construction industry for an international construction company, and a recent graduate from the University of Arizona. I received my Bachelor's of Science in Civil Engineering in May 2016 and left my roots in Tucson, Arizona. In my spare time, I enjoy soaking up the beautiful views around here by hiking, running, and adventuring. My hobbies also include cooking and baking, beauty pageants, bargain shopping, and traveling whenever the opportunity arises. I began tutoring elementary and middle school students in basic study skills, math, and reading at a young age, and have been tutoring since. From there, my tutoring experiences have expanded to help students of all ages from primary school to university level in basic math, pre-calculus, college level math; biology, chemistry, physics; Spanish and SAT and ACT prep. I believe that any student is capable of learning and mastering any concept - and that a bit of patience, hard work, and faith get you a long way.
I am a graduate of the University of Florida's PhD program in the Microbiology and Cell Science Department. Since graduation, I have worked for a startup company studying neurodegenerative biomarker uptake by immune cells in the peripheral blood during neuroinflammation. While I tutor a variety of subjects, my main passions lie in biology, microbiology, and chemistry. I believe it is important for students to not only learn the subject material but also to discover how they learn in general and how they can learn to take assessment tests efficiently.
I am currently a student at the University of Arizona studying Spanish Translation and Interpretation and minoring in Creative Writing. My favorite subjects to tutor are geometry and writing, as well as the SAT. I like to tutor geometry because I understand that while it comes naturally to me but algebra took a while for me to fully grasp, many people are the exact opposite. I greatly enjoy helping people along the road to that understanding in geometry. My love for writing comes from a similar place, though from the opposite side. I was a terrible writer in middle school, but one writing skills class in high school changed me from a D level writer to a B+/A- level writer and the IB program only made me better. I love tutoring writing skills because I want to help others as much as that class helped me. The SAT is a stressful experience for a lot of kids, but it doesn't need to be. Knowing and practicing the material is important, but there are many other things students can do to prepare as well. In my spare time, I love to play volleyball with friends, read (especially a good fantasy novel) and play a wide variety of card games.
As a dedicated mathematics tutor and a current Bachelor's student at the University of Arizona, I have over 3 years of experience guiding students through a diverse range of mathematical topics, including IB Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches, Calculus 2, and SAT Math. My teaching philosophy emphasizes the importance of a supportive and engaging learning environment, where I adapt my methods to meet the unique needs of each student. I take great pride in fostering their confidence and enthusiasm for mathematics, empowering them to overcome challenges and achieve their academic goals. Witnessing my students' growth fuels my passion for tutoring, and I strive to instill a lasting appreciation for the subject that transcends the classroom.
As a reading and writing tutor, I have experience working with students from middle school to graduate programs. Through our sessions, my students have earned As on difficult essays, raised their overall class grades, improved their SAT scores, gained admission to top universities, and built their confidence as writers, readers, and thinkers. As a tutor, I make sure to foster an encouraging, patient, and flexible learning environment in my sessions, adapting to each student's particular needs, personality, and sense of humor. Whether a learner is a top-scoring perfectionist with a fear of failure or a struggling student who believes they cannot succeed, we can work together to meet their goals and improve their relationship with learning! I completed my bachelor's degree in English at Kenyon College, where I graduated summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, and with high honors. During my third year, I studied abroad for two terms at the University of Oxford, where I experienced the benefits of their one-on-one tutorial system firsthand. I also earned perfect scores on the verbal sections of both the SAT and the GRE. I tutor a wide range of subjects. Among my areas of expertise are English literature, critical reading/verbal reasoning, college application essays, test prep, and creative writing. Outside of tutoring, my personal interests include reading, writing, drawing/painting, horseback riding, and playing with my two cats.
I'm a graduating medical student with a strong academic foundation in physiology, biology, and the health sciences. I bring several years of experience tutoring and mentoring students at different levels, and I focus on making complex material understandable through clear explanations, step-by-step reasoning, and real-world examples. My tutoring style is patient, structured, and tailored to each student's learning needs. I take time to identify gaps, build confidence, and create an organized plan for success. Whether guiding students through challenging science coursework or helping them strengthen study strategies, my goal is to make learning approachable, supportive, and effective.
I went to Stellenbosch University (SA) and University of Southern California (USA) for a BA in International Studies (Political Science, History, & French) and an MA in Specialized Journalism (Arts & Culture). I've loved writing since I learned how to write full sentences, and it's carried me around the world. One series of essays changed my life, and I believe this can be true for anyone who writes.
As a recent graduate and experienced tutor with a summa cum laude Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology from Colorado College, I bring over five years of tutoring experience across a variety of subjects, including high school biology and chemistry (regular, honors, and AP), as well as physics, writing, math, and general study skills. My strong foundation in the sciences, built through extensive coursework and research in molecular biology, biochemistry, and genetics, allows me to explain complex topics with clarity and enthusiasm. Further, my long-standing passion for reading and literature has helped me develop strong writing skills, which I enjoy sharing with students. My teaching philosophy centers on patience, empathy, and personalized support. I strive to create a calm, encouraging, and collaborative environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and exploring ideas deeply together. Each lesson is tailored to the student's learning style and goals, with a focus on developing true understanding rather than rote memorization. I believe that when students feel supported and confident, they're able to reach their full potential. Ultimately, my goal as a tutor is to help students build both knowledge and confidence, empowering them to succeed academically and develop a lasting curiosity for learning.
I'm a current medical student with a strong foundation in a wide variety of topics. My tutoring style is relaxed, supportive, and focused on creating a space where it's totally okay to make mistakeswe learn best when we can talk through questions without pressure. I enjoy breaking down complex topics into clear, relatable concepts and tying them back to real-world applications to make learning meaningful. Whether you're aiming to boost your confidence, improve study strategies, or prepare for an exam, I'm here to help you reach your goals with patience and encouragement.

Tucson's average student-teacher ratio of 15.2:1 means individual students often don't get the focused attention they need in the classroom. Personalized 1-on-1 instruction fills that gap by providing dedicated support tailored to your student's specific learning style, pace, and goals—something that's difficult to achieve in a traditional classroom setting.
Tucson students commonly seek tutoring in math, English, science, and test preparation (SAT, ACT, and AP exams). Tutors who work with Tucson students are familiar with Arizona's K-12 standards and graduation requirements, including proficiency expectations in English language arts, math, science, and social studies. The first session is focused on getting to know your student—their learning style, current challenges, and goals. The tutor will assess where they stand academically, identify specific areas that need support, and create a personalized plan moving forward. This foundation helps ensure that every future session is targeted and effective.
