I'm looking forward to working with you!

I'm always up for the challenge of changing my methods of instruction and breaking down topics to foster a deeper understanding of a subject. On a different note, I generally spend my spare time playing lacrosse or running outdoors when possible. I also play the violin with a school quartet, and teach lessons to beginning students working through the Suzuki program.
I am a senior in the honors college at the University of Georgia, where I have a full tuition Zell Miller Scholarship, as well as a National Merit Scholarship and a Woodruff Scholarship. I am majoring in psychology and mathematics with a minor in German. In addition to my studies, I am active in the Psi Chi International Psychology Honor Society and a German language social program, and am heavily involved in social psychology research. Additionally I have received several awards for my performance in my math classes at UGA.
I am an astronomer who spends her days coding in Python and conjuring up equations to fit trends I observe in my spectroscopic data. Currently, I study how stellar environment affects the gaseous disks around baby stars that may be forming planets (Yep & White 2020, The Astrophysical Journal, Volume 889, Issue 1, id. 50). Math, physics, and coding are all part of my job solving mysteries of the Universe! Throughout the year (except during global pandemics), I run Georgia State University's telescopes to show everyone the planets, stars, clusters, and galaxies visible from right here on Earth. Any questions? Ask away!
I'm not tutoring, I spend most of my time on my two indie rock bands, in which I play guitar and bass and write many of the songs. I also like to take my dog, Mac, on walks around my neighborhood of Grant Park.
I am currently a junior studying Neuroscience and Economics at Emory University.
I am a college sophomore at Brown University. I've been involved in tutoring and mentoring since high school, and I'm excited to get to continue with that work here on Varsity Tutors! My past experiences include working as an instructor at a math learning center for K-12 students, as well as private tutoring for middle and high school students. I would describe my teaching style as conversational; my goal is always to work with you to find a perspective on a topic that makes sense to you. I find that I like to I emphasize a concept's relevance and applications while providing explanations, as well as by providing useful practice scenarios or past examples.
I am going to medical school at Columbia University in the fall. I worked as a TA and tutor in college for biology and music courses, and I also have experience preparing students for standardized tests. My approach to tutoring is not to simply teach the material, but also to give my students the tools and strategies they need to teach themselves. Since everyone learns differently, I adjust my teaching style to match how each of my students learn, and I enjoy the challenge of coming up with new ways to explain concepts and problems.
I'm excited to use my experiences as a Harvard grad, bio nerd, high school science teacher, and college prep administrator to help you reach your academic goals!
I am a graduate of MIT. I received my Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with minors in Management Science and Ancient and Medieval Studies. Since graduation, I have started my PhD at Georgia Tech in Operations Research. Throughout my career I have TA'd several math and computer science courses at the college level. I have also taught at summer programs for gifted middle school and high school students. I am passionate about tutoring kids in math and science because I think that a strong foundation in STEM at an early age can set the tone for their future. In my spare time I like to engage in athletics, and was a Division 1 rower in college.
I'm a student at the University of Georgia, and I'm majoring in Biology and sociology. I've tutored everybody from elementary school students in Language Arts to college students in calculus. In my free time, I'm down to toss a frisbee with you or help you out on that project that you don't know where to start on. Just reach out, I'm happy to help!
I am a Biotechnology Master's Student at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, ETH Zurich. I completed my undergraduate degree in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from Georgia Tech in 2018 while minoring in Biomedical Engineering. My passion is researching novel ways to use ethically derived induced pluripotent stem cells in both research and therapeutic environments, and I love to share my knowledge and excitement for science, math, and language with others.
I'm Thomas, a sophomore Computer Science student at Georgia Tech. While I may be a STEM major at a tech school, I've always been skilled in reading and writing, never earning less than A in an English class throughout my academic career. If you're looking for someone with a high success rate in English, whether it be standardized testing or general writing, you're in the right place. In high school, I received a perfect score on the SAT writing section (only missed perfect on Verbal by 10 points), won first place in the UIL Regional Ready Writing Contest, and served as an editor on the school newspaper. While completing my university English requirement, I created an online tour stop for Atlanta's National Center for Civil and Human Rights.
I am a graduate of Duke University with a Bachelor of Arts in Latin American History. I recently received my Juris Doctor degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and began my career as an attorney. I am passionate about continuing my work in education through tutoring. I enjoy tutoring many subjects, particularly History, SAT Reading and Writing, College Essays, and Spanish. I love assisting students in implementing simple but effective changes in their preparation for Standardized Tests that show immediate results. I find this motivates students to continue through struggles in their educational pursuits. When I am not working, I enjoy yoga, running, cooking, traveling and playing the cello.
I am an undergraduate at Rice University in Houston pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Cell Biology. I have both formal and informal tutoring experience: I worked as an assistant teacher in my high school's math department in Atlanta teaching geometry, algebra and pre-calculus to students over the summer. As an Academic Fellow at Rice, I provide academic assistance to my peers in the natural sciences, specifically chemistry and biochemistry. Although my studies are focused in STEM, I am a strong writer and I excel in helping students improve grammar and essay organization. Additionally, I have abundant experience in both standardized and AP testing. I am a friendly and empathetic person, and I want to do whatever I can to help other students succeed!

I will be transferring to Georgia Tech in Fall 2016 where I plan to major in Biomedical Engineering and minor in sociology to supplement my teaching and human development skills.
I am a recent graduate of Emory University, where I studied Mathematics and Philosophy. I have over three years of experience tutoring middle-school to high-school students in math, science, and test prep. I think every student learns differently, and the most important job of a tutor is to tailor his or her style of teaching to each student's unique way of thinking.
I'm a 25 year old recent J.D. graduate of Georgia State College of Law. I attended Emory University for my undergraduate studies where I was awarded a double major in Political Science and History. Currently I am interning with CAIR as I prepare for the February Georgia Bar Exam.
I'm a Civil Engineering major, Sustainable Communities minor at Georgia Tech heading into my second year this fall. I love tutoring most subject, ranging from US Government to Algebra. In the past, the subjects that I have tutored the most are AP US Government and Reading. My tutoring method changes depending on the student, but I love to ask questions and make comparisons to other topics to provide a multidisciplinary understanding and make connections. My philosophy is to avoid memorization and promote understanding! I feel that students have more fun this way and will be better equipped to apply this information to their lives. Outside of the classroom, I am an avid Georgia Tech football fan (we're getting better, I promise!), traveler, and recycler!

Through working with me as your tutor, I hope to help you develop your confidence in your abilities and cultivate a positive attitude that allows you to tackle any challenge that comes your way.
I am an undergraduate student at Washington University in St. Louis majoring in Neurobiology (B.S.) and minoring in Jazz Studies and Biomedical Physics. While I tutor many areas within math, science, and standardized test preparation, I am most passionate about biology and algebra because of my interest in these subjects as well as my belief in their importance. I have always been the friend who fellow peers go to for guidance with work and because of this, I have learned the value of patience, communication, and empathy in the education process. I firmly believe that every subject I tutor is vital in a student's path to success and a greater understanding of the world, and because of this, I will fully commit myself to making sure my tutees have a solid grasp of the concepts being taught as well as the ability to apply them to real-world situations.
I'm here to help you excel. Whether you're looking to ace that standardized test, your child needs an extra boost to do better in school, or you need help learning a new language, I'd be happy to help you out!
I am a third year undergraduate pursuing a degree in political science at the University of Georgia. I know that meeting with a tutor can be a stressful experience, so I'm happy to get the opportunity to alleviate some of my students' worries and share the passion I have for the subjects I tutor! I love political science and the government as well as keeping myself well rounded with study of the more concrete subjects like mathematics. I enjoy meeting new students and helping them grow, so feel free to reach out!
I'm a a high school graduate headed off to college at Haverford, a top college near Philly. I specialize in both math and writing, often tutoring my friends and volunteering at the writing center. I've taken many dual enrollment math courses at local colleges, including Calculus 1,2, and 3, as well as linear algebra. I also do a lot of test prep, as I've actually taken the SAT 5 times and scored a 1590, so I'm very used to standardized testing. I love helping people, so I hope I can help you!
I'm Merav! I graduated magna cum laude from Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Science in Theatre and a Minor in Psychology.
I am currently a physics student at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Throughout my high school and college career, I have been tutoring people of all ages a variety of different subjects, but I specialize in math and physics. I am a firm believer that one cannot explain a concept to a 5-year-old, then they do not understand it enough. When I teach my students, I try my best to make sure they can achieve this deep level of understanding in whatever subject they are studying. I have tutored professionally for Mathnasium where I tutored math in all levels ranging from algebra to single variable calculus, and have tutored privately in subjects such as quantum mechanics, and introductory physics. In my free time, I enjoy playing ultimate frisbee, going on hikes, and writing music.
I am extremely passionate about academics and learning; the value of each was inculcated into me at a very young age. I tutor a variety of subjects largely because I have so many areas of interests and have been privileged enough to pursue knowledge in those areas. I even enjoy tucking away "useless facts"...in fact, those very tidbits got me past the Jeopardy! Online Test and into the Contestant Audition!
I'm a current Emory undergrad and Economics major in the Athens area.
I'm Sylvan. I am a nursing student, and a TA for anatomy and physiology.
Hi! My name is Katherine. I'm a student at the Georgia Institute of Technology studying biomedical engineering. I've worked with the Fernbank Museum of Natural History and Youth STEM 2030. I'm passionate about learning and I can't wait to see what we can accomplish together!

In the last 5 years, I have mainly worked with students in elementary and middle school to find engaging ways in delivering productive tutoring sessions. While I am able to tutor in a broad range of subjects, Math, English, and test preparation are my strong points. I am a stern proponent of finding unique ways to match the interest level of students. Learning is most effective when it's engaging, personalized, and built on confidence. As a tutor, I focus on making complex concepts more approachable and helping students develop problem-solving skills that extend beyond the classroom. Currently pursuing a degree in Finance and Economics, I have experience tutoring middle and high school students in math, reading, and standardized test preparation, including the SAT, which I achieved a score of 1530. I particularly enjoy tutoring math because of the logical thinking and real-world applications it fosters. My approach adapts to each student's learning style, ensuring lessons are clear, interactive, and tailored to their needs. I believe that success comes not just from memorization but from truly understanding the "why" behind each concept. Beyond tutoring, I have experience in investment analysis and enjoy exploring the intersection of finance, strategy, and sports. In my free time, I love traveling, analyzing business trends, and staying active. My goal is to help students build confidence, improve their academic performance, and develop a lasting appreciation for learning.
I'm a finance student at the University of Georgia dedicated to helping my students learn math and other skills through practice and hard work. I began my tutoring career at Kumon where I developed a passion to help other students excel in their academic careers. My teaching philosophy is practice, the only to truly master a subject is to practice it until you can do it with your eyes closed.

Frequently Asked Questions
Score improvement varies based on your starting point and study intensity, but most students see meaningful gains with personalized instruction focused on their specific weak areas. Many students improve by 5-10 points or more when they work with a tutor to identify patterns in their mistakes, refine test-taking strategies, and build confidence in timed conditions. The key is targeted practice on the sections where you struggle most—whether that's logical reasoning, reading comprehension, or analytical reasoning (games).
Your first session focuses on understanding your current strengths and challenges. Expect to discuss your target score, review a recent practice test or diagnostic, and identify which sections need the most work. From there, your tutor will create a personalized study plan that fits your timeline and learning style, whether you're preparing for a test in 4 weeks or 4 months.
Pacing is one of the biggest challenges LSAT test-takers face, and expert tutors help you develop strategies specific to each section. For reading comprehension, you'll learn efficient note-taking and passage mapping techniques. For logical reasoning, you'll practice identifying question types quickly to allocate time wisely. For games, you'll work on diagramming strategies that save time without sacrificing accuracy. Your tutor will use timed practice drills to build speed while maintaining accuracy.
This is exactly what personalized tutoring addresses. Rather than spending equal time on all three sections, your tutor will focus heavily on your weakest areas while maintaining your strengths. For example, if logical reasoning is your challenge but you excel at games, you'll dedicate more sessions to reasoning strategies and practice problems. This targeted approach is much more efficient than generic test prep and helps you maximize your score in the time you have.
Practice tests are essential—they're the best way to identify your weak areas, build stamina for the 3-hour exam, and track progress over time. Most serious LSAT prep involves taking full, timed practice tests every week or two. Your tutor will help you analyze your results to spot patterns (like struggling with comparative reading or specific game types), then focus your study sessions on those specific challenges rather than reviewing material you've already mastered.
Absolutely. Test anxiety often stems from uncertainty about the format, question types, or your ability to manage time—all things tutoring directly addresses. As you become more familiar with the test structure through guided practice and receive feedback on your progress, confidence naturally builds. Your tutor can also teach you specific strategies for staying calm under pressure, managing difficult sections, and maintaining focus during the full-length exam.
Most students benefit from 3-4 months of preparation, though this varies based on your starting score and target. A typical schedule includes 1-2 tutoring sessions per week combined with independent practice between sessions. Your tutor will help you create a realistic study plan that balances intensive preparation with other commitments, and adjust the frequency of sessions based on your progress and how much time remains before your test date.
Look for tutors with strong LSAT scores (typically 170+), proven experience teaching the test, and a track record of helping students improve. Ideally, your tutor should have deep knowledge of all three sections and be able to explain the reasoning behind correct and incorrect answers, not just provide answers. Varsity Tutors connects you with expert LSAT tutors in Atlanta who understand the test thoroughly and know how to adapt their teaching to your learning style and goals.
