Hello! I am just starting graduate work at Vermont College of Fine Arts. During my undergraduate years, I tutored for several different families and also worked with fellow college students who were struggling to make it in their classes. I have tutored in standardized test preparation, time management, history, geography, English, writing, and all elementary school subjects. Since eleventh grade, when I taught some neighborhood kids how to write essays and craft short stories, I have loved the one-on-one element of tutoring because I have the chance to really get to know a student, and then based on the student's learning style, teach them how to succeed. It's so much fun to build relationships with students and walk with them through the process until they realize: I can do this! I have always love facilitating learning experiences. When I was a little kid, I taught my sisters the capitals and countries of Africa using ridiculous mnemonics. It worked. Now we're grown up and married, and we still remember which capital goes with which country. In my free time, I do basic literacy work with bilingual elementary students from low-income backgrounds, and I also volunteer with refugees. I speak four languages, and am learning Spanish now. I enjoy baking bread, making ice coffee, playing piano, hanging out with kids, running, writing, and reading.
