What can a Houston GRE course help me review?
The GRE consists of an Analytical Writing section, a Quantitative Reasoning, and a Verbal Reasoning section. The first section you will tackle on the exam is the Analytical Writing, though the remaining two may come in any order. Each section assesses a variety of different skills, so it is important to be prepared for the content of the test.
The Analytical Writing section aims to measure your ability to think critically while communicating your thoughts and ideas. To accomplish this, you will be presented with two, 30-minute tasks: "analyze an argument" and "analyze an issue." Though you don't need any specific knowledge to complete these tasks, you will need to be prepared to evaluate, assess, and respond to each. The issue assignment presents an opinion of an issue that you will need to be able to support an argument against, while the other one asks you to consider the logic of an argument and evaluate its claims.
You will have an hour and 10 minutes to tackle the Quantitative Reasoning section. Split into two 20-question subsections, you can score between 130 and 170 on this portion. Half of the Quantitative Reasoning section allows you to use a calculator, which you are given during the exam. There are four main content areas that are focused on arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and data analysis. The exam assesses your abilities in these areas through four types of questions: numeric entry, multiple-choice with one answer, multiple-choice with one or more answers, and quantitative comparisons.
The Verbal Reasoning section of the GRE is also split into two 20-question sections. You can achieve 130-170 points on this section. You will have one hour to demonstrate your ability to understand information that is presented in written English. This section measures your ability to analyze, evaluate, and interpret information presented as a whole or in part. Half this section focuses on passage-related questions while the remaining task you with completing the passages or sentences. Questions are split into reading comprehension, sentence equivalence, and text completion types.

I believe the key to successful teaching is getting to know each learner and finding out what interests them and how they best learn. I graduated from UT Austin, and hold a current teaching certificate. I am passionate about teaching and have experience teaching and tutoring learners from diverse backgrounds and ages. I will strive to create interesting lessons or tutoring help that caters to your unique need.... My philosophy in teaching is knowing that every learner is unique, and learns at different speeds and in different ways. The instructor's goal is, therefore, to find out how their students learn and guiding the student in assessment and progress.

...my Ed.D. in Administrator Leadership with Walden University. I love teaching and I enjoy seeing my students gain new insights and learn more about themselves as they work to reach their goals. I've had the pleasure of teaching education, reading, and writing classes at the collegiate level for over seven years. Prior to starting a career in higher education, I taught elementary grades 1-6 and served as an instructional reading coach in Dallas, TX.... The instructor contributes to learning success in many ways. First, he/she must provide a clear purpose for instruction. Instructors should set clear and attainable expectations for their students and structure learning to ensure student success. The instructor should plan and prepare course lessons that meet the educational needs of their students, and they should provide adequate opportunities for students to practice what is being taught. In addition, the instructor should provide frequent, constructive, and individual feedback and should be readily available to students as they engage in learning. The instructor also contributes to the learning process by demonstrating mastery of the course content being taught. Instructors are learners as well, and should constantly strive to improve instruction and learning opportunities to increase student achievement. This involves collaborating with colleagues and participating in relevant training opportunities that enhance teaching and learning. It also involves frequent reflection of teaching methods and program selection. The instructor also engages in professional development opportunities that allow them to improve course materials and equipment and implement new educational practices and technologies as they emerge. An effective leader possesses the ability to relate to students and collaborate well with other faculty members. They participate in the development, review and management of activities relating to curriculum choice and decisions affecting the school. In turn, they make contributions that enhance the success of their students and the overall culture of the learning organization.
