If you have recently received your teaching degree but still need to take a Praxis test in order to move forward on your path to becoming a teacher then Varsity Tutors can connect you with a St. Louis Praxis tutor or online course. A prep class or private tutor can provide you with an in-depth review of what you learned in college before taking this important exam. By taking a course or getting face-to-face help from a private academic instructor you can receive a more comprehensive review of the material you'll encounter on the Praxis exam than you would by studying on your own.
What concepts will be covered during St. Louis Praxis prep?
Whether you attended schools like the University of Missouri - St. Louis, Saint Louis University, or any other college in the area, the Praxis exam covers a wide range of topics and concepts that you learned while getting your degree. The Praxis test is intended to measure the academic skills and subject-specific knowledge that you will need to be a teacher.
There are two different Praxis tests: Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators (Core) and Praxis Subject Assessments. The Core test measures your academic ability in subjects like reading, writing, and mathematics. The Praxis Subject Assessment test measures knowledge of specific subjects that K-12 educators will teach. If you intend to teach elementary school, there is also the Praxis Elementary Education: Content Knowledge for Teaching (CKT) exam. These tests measure subject-specific content knowledge with a focus on content used in elementary school teaching.
With the broad scope of these exams, you can see how a prep course or academic mentor could be beneficial to prepare you to do your best. During your prep class or individual tutoring, an instructor can help you review the basic concepts that will likely be covered on the exam. During your prep, you can also go over the format of the exam. The Praxis is a computer-administered exam. So it could be helpful to review how the exam looks so you can feel confident going into the exam day.
What are the benefits of the different types of St. Louis Praxis Prep?
Varsity Tutors is set up to provide you with two different types of Praxis prep: an online course or private tutoring. Each option provides its own unique benefits, but no matter which you choose, you will get accurate and up to date information from a knowledgeable instructor.
If you feel that you are most comfortable in a classroom environment, then you can enroll in an online St. Louis Praxis prep class. You will attend this online class via our virtual Live Learning Platform using video chat and an online whiteboard. The live online setting will allow you to interact with your both instructor and your classmates the same as you would a regular classroom, except you will be in the comfort of your own home. That way you can share your knowledge with fellow students and ask your teacher questions, getting immediate feedback.
Perhaps you would rather have private, one-on-one instruction. If you learn best this way, you can choose to work with a tutor instead. Having your very own academic mentor means you can receive distraction-free help at your own pace with someone who can cater to the type of learning experience you prefer. A private instructor can also give you individualized lessons that can not only guide you toward a deeper understanding of what you'd see on a Praxis exam but also help you with study habits and address any weaknesses you might have before exam day.
Most students find that one method appeals to them more than the other, but if you feel the need to supplement your St. Louis Praxis prep course with one-on-one instruction, you can choose to do both.
How can I get set up with St. Louis Praxis preparation?
Whether you choose the online class option or individual instruction, flexible scheduling and online access are available for each. Even if you're someone who's always on the go and has a packed schedule, you can still find time for exam prep. If you think you might be interested in how professional test preparation can help you achieve your goal of passing the Praxis test, feel free to give contact one of our Educational Consultants. By reaching out to Varsity Tutors about St. Louis Praxis prep, you can talk with an Educational Consultant in order to make a decision that is right for you.

...four years of undergrad at my University! I am especially passionate about high school/upper level math subjects such as Algebra 1, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus, etc... because they allow students to dive deeper into a single subject opposed to lower level math classes where you get a little taste of everything without really going below the surface level of the content. With that being said, all of my teaching experience has been on the middle school...
