Almost seven years ago, in the highly diverse, academically rich environment of the San Francisco Bay Area, I began my professional tutoring career with one of the national names in test prep. With them I learned the value of working one on one with students to identify how best they learn and help them master their own learning style. I was recruited by an online tutoring firm to write and perform their ACT prep video series. I currently assist students in Liberal Arts Studies through the Writing Center at the Juilliard School, and I continue to teach lessons in music. My enthusiasm for working with students continues to grow as I meet more capable, intelligent young people who often just need insight into how to tackle the mass of material they receive in the classroom. My background is as a classically trained singer, and I know first-hand the value of seeking the best help to improve one’s skills. I moved to New York City to continue my own development as a performer at the highest level, and I appreciate the will to aspire that this city instills. I enjoy clearly communicating complex ideas to students and, not just delivering content, continually checking in for actual understanding and growth. With so much experience in test prep, I know the importance of helping students feel empowered to replicate the confidence gained in a tutoring session in the classroom and on test day.
