Tutoring review by Martin in Hatboro, PA
The student and I continued to work on conic sections. We concentrated on understanding the properties and equations for ellipses and hyperbola, their similarities and differences. He completed homework problems from the book - graphing conics, writing in standard form, identifying the conic, etc. The student sometimes gets "ahead of himself" when completing the square to convert to standard form. We made sure that he had extra practice on these types of problems. He will practice doing each step methodically and clearly.

Tutoring review by Hadiya in Hatboro, PA
At the beginning of the session, we reviewed the homework I left with the student. He had a few questions about some of the problems, but I explained each item. Then, we practiced word problems with decimals. I explained the importance of identifying key terms and even referred back to a chart of key terms that I gave him a couple of weeks ago. Next, we worked on key terms with fractions. Again, he did better when the key terms and information was clearly identified. I left him two worksheets for practice. He is supposed to start the state test soon. We made plans for a session, in which we will review science content along with math.

During this session, we did a lot of practice with solving inequalities. We talked about how to graph inequalities on a number line and how to solve inequalities with addition and subtraction. We also practiced finding the dimensions of 2D figures using algebra. She caught on with the inequality concepts very well and could complete all the practice problems correctly by the end of the session.

Tutoring review by Amareen in Hatboro, PA
We covered cell structure and function. We reinforced cellular transport/ hypertonicity, and hypotonic. She is always eager to learn biology and enjoys learning through more in depth examples. Since we were reviewing for her quiz, we added her worksheet to the flashcards so she can review all of her material in one place. She is doing great so far, and I hope the topic stays with her in the long run as she is able to understand extra details that many college students have yet to learn!
