How much does Varsity Tutors cost for students in Kent?

The amount you can expect to pay for tutoring for students in Kent depends on various factors unique to your situation. Some details that may come into play to affect the rate include the expertise of the tutor and the number of sessions you need.

As an example, if you are learning at Kent State University and want regular LSAT test prep sessions during your final year to get ready for exam day, the amount you will pay per session might be less than what it would be if you were to ask for just a few lessons. Since so many factors can come into play to affect the rate, we recommend talking with one of our Educational Directors for a quote.

The student and I worked on a worksheet he had covering circular dynamics. The biggest struggle he had was on problems with inertia and moments of inertia. We talked about how it was like mass but for rotating bodies and that seemed to help.

Tutoring review by Anna in Kent, OH
The student and I had a good session yesterday reviewing and finishing absolute value problems, and then starting simplifying rational expressions. We got really in depth with absolute value word problems and she did really well with them. She caught on very quickly to how to express an absolute value being outside of a certain interval versus inside of it. After finishing with this we started with simplifying rational expressions. She had a decent recollection of what a "rational" number is, and she recalled very well how to add/ subtract and multiply/ divide fractions. We focused on adding/ subtracting rational expressions and how to find the lowest common denominator between two fractions. We learned how to find the lowest common multiple of two numbers that either do or don't share common factors. Clearly, this discussion gave us a great opportunity to review the difference between a factor and a multiple! She caught on to this relatively quickly as well. We'll pick up with this next time.

She earned a grade of 100% on her last test. She is ecstatic that for the first time ever she has received a math grade of 100%.

We worked on the material for the student's exam on Monday, including writing covalent and ionic formulas, drawing Lewis dot structures, and polarity. She picks up on skills quickly once the reasoning behind them is explained, and she seems well-prepared for her exam. We will talk more next session about the material from her last test, including light emission of elements in a flame.

Tutoring review by Corbin in Kent, OH
For this session, the student and I reviewed his material before his test the next day. This included solving and graphing inequalities on the number line. I noticed that he still made a few mental errors when solving his equations. We practiced several problems to clean up his errors and by the end of the session he seemed more comfortable with solving his problems.
