Tutoring review by Rohan in Plum, PA
The student and I reviewed for her exam next Thursday. We mainly worked on trigonometric identities, which were sin/cos/tan(2x) and sin/cos/tan(x+y)/(x-y). Some of these problems were very difficult and time consuming, but we came up with a couple ideas on how to make them easier.

The student and I began this session with some review of the exponential function and the natural logarithm. We looked at rules of exponents and logarithms as well as solving some equations using e and ln. We also discussed the formula, e^(ln(x)) = x. We then talked about linear approximations. We discussed using the tangent line to approximate functions around a point and also looked at the geometric intuition behind the formula.

Tutoring review by Jackson in Plum, PA
Today we continued our work with graphing equations. We further studied how alterations to basic or "parent" functions affect the function graphically. Once the basic patterns were laid out, the student did very well. She did have some small issues with vertical shifts, but she understands the material and was able to correct herself most of the time.

Tutoring review by Katherine in Plum, PA
Today, we worked on plotting quadratics and rational, and radical expressions and using these to solve equations. The student did well with factoring today. She did well with the concept of extraneous solutions, and using the graph to visualize the solutions to an equation.

During this session we worked on long response practice problems for the upcoming AP exam. Today we were able to work on three long response problems involving differentiation, integration, midpoint integration, mid-value theorem and rates. The student had a lot of questions regarding these problems at the start of the session but was able to understand all of the concepts by the end of the session.

Tutoring review by Melania in Plum, PA
The first student and I worked on review material for her final exam. We reviewed place values, working with decimals (basic operations as well as converting between decimals and fractions for certain problems and how to determine when to use decimals and when to use fractions), multiplication/division by multiples of 10, and division with fractions and the equivalent multiplication by the reciprocal. Overall she did well, but she did struggle a bit to recall these concepts. However, after review, she was comfortable with the topics listed above. The second student and I began reviewing for her math final as well. We went over the definitions of the commutative, associative and distributive properties as well as examples illustrating each. We then discussed solving and graphing inequalities. We then reviewed the formulas for area of a rectangle, area of a triangle, and how to find the area of a polygon comprised of various rectangles and triangles. We also discussed definitions of various polygons and touched on graphing on the coordinate plane. Overall very good, She just needs to review past concepts and make sure she is familiar with them.
