Tutoring review by Daniel in Wisconsin
The goal of this session was to complete a review of a school worksheet and we were successful. The problems were about determining whether a mathematical expression was a root of a given polynomial and also practiced synthetic division and long division of polynomials. The student did not remember how to do long division but it quickly came back to him after I reviewed it. He became more engaged as the session continued. There are still several more worksheets that he must complete. I made some suggestions about how to solve some other problems on another worksheet and he will work on them during the week. We will review any other questions that he has at our next session.

Tutoring review by Aaron in Wisconsin
The student and I looked primarily at physics, focusing on heat exchange and transfer. Fortunately, he already had a leg up from our chemistry work with gases, so we only had to introduce calorimetry and latent heat. Latent heat was the most difficult concept to convey, so that will be the bulk of our focus tomorrow. We also started to look at Lewis structures.

The student is doing a great job with the Engage curriculum. He is also doing well with multiplication when it is not timed. He needs to practice some of the online multiplication games in order to increase his fluency.

We worked on French vocabulary in this session. I asked the student to study the vocabulary and review the exercise we completed during the session. She has great reading comprehension! I will include the pdf of the book for her to read the rest of the story.

Tutoring review by Sandy in Wisconsin
It was great meeting the student and getting a sense of her strengths and weaknesses as we went through her homework today. We worked on calculations and word problems, which she has a solid grasp on, and perimeter and area calculations. She knows the methodology but doubts her ability on the tougher problems, so we worked on breaking down the problems into sections and drawing out some of the shapes so she could see them more clearly. It was great to see her gaining confidence and speed as she did a few of them with some guidance, and then on her own. We went through her missing assignments that she will turn into her teacher on Monday, and discussed the questions that she had gotten wrong on her previous test. We realized she had not done her homework assignment #3, which she will do and turn in on Monday. I think we had a really good start today, and can build on that next week!
