HTML Tutoring FAQ

HTML is an acronym for Hypertext Markup Language. HTML is a markup language that Internet browsers use to decipher and transform images, text, and other web components into audible or visual web pages. Back in 1980, physicist Tim Berners-Lee used to work as a contractor for CERN, aka, The European Organization for Nuclear Research. He invented ENQUIRE, a software system for researchers at CERN to use and share documents. Nine years later, Berners-Lee wrote a memo that introduced an Internet-based hypertext system which eventually developed into HTML codes.

The silent partner in almost all web development is the presentational tier of HTML. This ubiquitous markup language lies behind almost all web presentations and has done so from the earliest days of the Internet's existence. Don't be fooled into thinking that it is exceedingly difficult to learn to design websites using HTML. Instead, find a private tutor to help you learn this skill today, and add an important tool to your digital belt.

There are many people who can benefit from HTML tutoring. From the complete neophyte to the long-time web programmer, almost all users will find directed assistance helpful, either for gaining or sharpening their skills in this language. Tutors are experienced pedagogues who can help you build your initial HTML knowledge based upon your prior knowledge and background in computing. Likewise, you can learn more about the whole website creation process, including the role of CSS markup and the programming languages used on the client (e.g. JavaScript) and server (e.g. Python, Perl, PHP, etc.) tiers. Likewise, your tutor can help to demystify the way that data is communicated from databases to HTML so that you develop a holistic vision of your needs and tasks as an HTML designer.

As already noted, the experienced programmer can benefit from personal HTML tutoring as well. With the release of new HTML standards, there are a number of changes that you likely are overlooking in your code. From new attributes to the new form element types and display updates to a number of other new features, the general lexicon of HTML has expanded quite a bit in recent years, offering an impressive new array of options for the developer. Likewise, it is necessary to eliminate old habits. After all, learning never stops, no matter how experienced you are.

Long in the past are the days of table-based layouts, but many programmers continue to create websites using outdated methods. Learn how to combine the new document type changes in HTML with the power of CSS to create interfaces that follow today's best practices. Don't risk submitting work that shows how far behind recent developments you are! Let a personal tutor help you update your skills quickly so you can get back to programming your own projects, not learning the nuts and bolts of markup language.

Just think of the possibilities of having the assistance of an HTML tutor. If you happen to be a complete stranger to the field of programming, the knowledge you'll gain from HTML instruction can help you land your first job at Google or another popular search engine company. But why stop there? You can also explore the path of freelance programming and seek out clients to create websites for on your own time. Maybe you can even become a HTML tutor yourself and pass on your programming acumen to future students.

Computer science tutors are available to meet with you at your convenience in person and can even do face-to-face online tutoring through your computer, providing flexibility in your tutoring. Let us help you find a great HTML tutor today. Contact Varsity Tutors to discuss the HTML tutoring offerings in your area!

Today we did another half practice test in English, Math, and Reading.  We ran out of time for Science and will have to do that next time.  The student's English score came up 7 points from a 21 to a 28 on this practice test. Her math score remained a 26.  Her reading score came up 2 points to a 26.  Overall these three sections would give her a score of 27. As always these scores have been computed using only a portion of each sub test, so while they are a good estimate, they may not match her final score.

The student has a test on Monday 12/15. We reviewed the material to be presented for the test, and looked over her homework assignments from the chapter as well to reinforce understanding of all topics covered. She is making progress, and is learning how to identify the method used for solving a problem she is presented with more easily.

SAT math section; covered geometry, algebra, word problems, and set theory. Also covered sentence completion and sentence correction strategies. The student should review the properties of special triangles and a little of set theory, in addition to the vocab words she has from the lesson.

The student and I began work on an essay that he has been assigned over Mark Twain's "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn". Together, we developed a thesis which works to draw a correlation between Huck Finn and Buck Grangerford in order to demonstrate how Buck's death represents a shattering of Huck's romantic notions about combat and adventure. We then found three main supporting points in the text and put the appropriate spin on them. He worked quite diligently and the session was very fruitful.
