I love kids and teaching. I've been working with children since I taught Sunday school in High School. I continued at college by volunteering during homework time at a local homeless shelter and working at the college writing center. After graduation, as jobs and family commitments allowed, I continued to volunteer, again at a homeless shelter through a Chicago Public School program. Currently, I have returned to teaching Sunday School, working with some wonderful children between the ages of 10 and 12 at my inner city church.

When I am not working with children, I work full time in customer service in a small internet start up, as well as going to school part time at DePaul University getting my Master's Degree in the Media and Cinema Studies program (or, as I like to describe it, getting a masters degree in watching movies). This program picks up my particular interests in American and World history, popular culture, and writing.

While I am comfortable working with older children in my particular areas of expertise (history and writing), I most enjoy working with younger children, middle and elementary school age. I am comfortable with them and they are comfortable with me. I love working with the wonderful children Varsity finds for me, devoting my energy and imagination to making their learning as productive as possible.
