Certified Tutor

As a recent graduate of Connecticut College and Fulbright Scholar, I have always been passionate about education and learning. I graduated from Connecticut College in 2012 with a double major in English and German. My accomplishments in the German major were recognized when I was honored with the German Consulate Book Prize for Excellence in German. While in college, I worked as a writing tutor both at Connecticut College and at the US Coast Guard Academy. As a writing tutor, I assisted students with all stages from the writing process, from brainstorming and drafting, to research strategies and proper citation techniques. By working for two very different universities, I have experience working with a variety of students in multiple subjects, ranging from English and History papers at Connecticut College to Nautical and Marine Science papers at the Coast Guard Academy. As a writing tutor, I strive to create a comfortable and stress-free environment in which a student can explore and develop their topic. After graduating from Connecticut College, I pursued a Fulbright Scholarship, and I spent the 2012-2013 academic year in Germany teaching English to middle and high school students in Dresden. Through this experience, I have developed a strategy for tutoring languages that involves creating a fun and exciting environment where students feel free to speak openly and develop their language skills. I spent this past summer in Berlin helping to promote the thriving English language comedy scene in Germany's capital. In my free time, I enjoy reading, attending comedy shows, playing basketball and hiking.
