Certified Tutor
I am currently a student at Georgia State University; I will have my Bachelor's degree, with a major in English with a concentration in Literature, in May of 2014. In September 2014, I will begin my Masters of Arts in Teaching through the University of Southern California. I have had multiple experiences teaching at the informal level, and have most recently completed a Secondary Education internship. This internship allowed me to work with students in on-level Freshman English, and Senior AP Literature. I was also allowed to observe classes at the Sophomore and Junior levels.
My favorite subject to teach is Writing. I have a passion for literature, and I greatly enjoy writing my analysis and conclusions down, manipulating the English language to reflect exactly what I mean.
I believe in cognitive learning; that is, I believe students should always have the opportunity to voice what they have learned. That way, I can understand the way each student grasps concepts, and it allows me to see exactly where a student has trouble with a concept.
Outside of academia, I work with an animal rescue and service dog training program. I take part in the rehabilitation process for dogs who need to learn how to live in a home, and I assist in training the service dogs. As the Director for Public Relations for the branch, I also oversee the public aspect of the organization.
