Certified Tutor

I am a graduate of Washington State University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Communication with a focus on Journalism and Public Relations. While in college, I took the opportunity to study abroad in Spain for a summer, where I took three months of intensive language classes. My experience abroad allowed me to achieve a double major in Spanish Language Studies. Throughout high school and college, I volunteered for peer mentoring programs.

I spent much of my free time tutoring students in English, Public speaking, and Spanish. I feel passionate about tutoring programs because growing up, I used them. Tutoring is an integral part in the learning process because every person learns in a unique way. People understand concepts differently and the key to making someone enjoy their education is to understand that they may think differently than what is taught in a standard text book.

I try to encourage unique learning styles. I try to impart a new perspective for learning, as well as an appreciation for education to all of my students. Since graduation, I have entered the workforce in media relations. I started out as an Account Executive for a Portland radio station. I spent three years working on marketing campaigns for different clients and businesses. The job allowed me to hone my writing and public speaking skills. I now work as a Public Relations Coordinator for the technology company, FLIR Systems. I cultivate relationships with the media, write press releases and coordinate events. In my spare time, you can find me perusing Powell’s Book Store, enjoying the beautiful Portland scenery or running around my neighborhood.
