David

Certified Tutor

I am a graduate of Thomas Edison State College. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Communications and have more than 10 years of experience in the areas of public affairs, English, journalism, broadcasting, photography, media relations, copy-editing and publication design. During my time as an active-duty service member in the United States Navy, I had the great pleasure of working as a mass communication specialist and telling the Navy’s story to a worldwide audience. I served as a primary journalism and public affairs instructor at the Defense Information School (2011-2014) where I had the unique opportunity of teaching service members of all branches of service the fundamentals of military journalism and public affairs. Through extensive lesson plan development, classroom engagement and a passion for setting others up for success, my students were able to graduate and become the future of military communicators. I highly enjoy tutoring in the subjects of writing, English, journalism and speech. Possessing the ability to communicate an effective message to a variety of audiences is a skill I pride myself in. I feel every student has a unique learning style and it’s important to ensure a plan of study is developed based on techniques that are curtailed for each individual student in order to ensure their success. I’m very passionate about teaching, tutoring and coaching students to achieve their goals academically and broadening their skill-sets. I am a firm proponent of education, believing it to be absolutely necessary for an improved quality of life, and I try to impart this appreciation to all of my students. In my spare time, I enjoy writing, all facets of sports (especially hockey and baseball), collecting autographs, traveling all around the world, cooking, video games, exercising, further pursuing my education and spending time with family.
