Certified Tutor
I have a Bachelors degree in Psychology and a Master's of Science degree in Occupational Therapy with a specialization in education. I also have taken extra college classes in Mathematics and Science to further my education. I worked for a few years on the clinical side of Occupational Therapy, and then my career path took a new direction. I got involved in a tutoring program for students at the K-12 level. I loved it immediately; I had found my true passion: working with and helping children. I started teaching students in various environments and to students of all levels.
I have assisted teaching in a school, substitute taught for grades k-12 in all subject areas, tutored at a center for kids with special needs, tutored on-one-on in homes, taught lessons in an after-school program, and managed a team of tutors. I have tutored the subjects of Mathematics, Science, Reading, English, Writing, History, Spanish, and ACT/SAT Preparation. I have also been in a director role for an after-school program for three years. My true passion is working with children and helping them to feel confident, excited about learning, and positive about their futures. I believe allowing students to interact through auditory, visual, and tactile systems gives them a deeper understanding of their environments and the material presented to them.
In the past, I have been able to learn from my students, laugh with them, teach them and advise them. I have always worked hard to overcome obstacles presented to me in my life, and I would love the opportunity to help other students to have this perspective as well. In my free time, I like to teach yoga, practice Pilates, and dance. I love to read, snowboard, and walk/bike along the beach.
