Certified Tutor

I am a PA certified K-12 educator and I've been teaching at a public school full-time since 2002 and part-time teaching adults since 2001. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Accounting in 1998 and a Master's degree in Education in 2010. Aside from real-world experience in the world of business and accounting, I've been teaching Accounting, Business and Computer Software night classes to adults at a Pittsburgh business school since 2001. Soon after starting teaching at night, I started my career as a middle school Computer Science teacher in the southeast suburbs of Pittsburgh.

Teaching middle school means knowing every subject, teaching and helping every student no matter what the student's level, background or special need. Teaching kids, teens and the adult learner takes a completely special balance of patience, empathy and mutual respect. In the 15+ years I've spent in the classroom I'm constantly working to achieve that special balance, each year with its new set of challenges.

My parenting, coaching and tutoring experience has given me an opportunity to work with elementary school students in my community. Though I was originally trained as a middle to high school teacher, I've fallen in love with coaching & teaching at the elementary level. Seeing my own children grow from kindergarten up into middle school has been very educational and fulfilling.
