I attended NYU for my undergraduate studies and I am currently finishing up my graduate studies at LIU Brooklyn. It is my belief that education is the key to improving our communities. As educators it is not our job to give our students the answer, rather it is our duty to teach them how to be critical and independent thinkers. I am currently a high school Special Education English teacher. I became a teacher because I believe in the potential of all learners and understand that not all learning happens the same way. I am a passionate and dedicated person who constantly strives to better myself and my practice.

What is your teaching philosophy?
Teaching students that they deserve an education is the first step.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I would get to know a little bit about their likes and dislikes and try to gain some insight into their learning style.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Helping students become independent learners is all about teaching students strategies that they can apply on their own without teacher assistance.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Keeping students motivated is tricky but not impossible. Entwining the students' interest in the lesson helps to keep them motivated, focused, and engaged.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, I would try a different teaching approach.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
Using active reading techniques such as reviewing pre-reading vocabulary, making inferences, and asking questions about the text helps students who struggle with reading comprehension.
