What is your teaching philosophy?

I believe in putting the students and their education first. It is important to inspire students to be lifelong learners and to motivate them on a daily basis. I am also very passionate about teaching and make an impact and feel that comes across in my teaching. I believe everyone learns differently and adapt my teaching practices according to my students' learning style.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

I typically use part of the first session to get acquainted with the student and build a foundation of trust and comfort. I like to get to know each student’s likes and dislikes and how they learn best.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

I teach my students study skills and tips to enable them to work independently in the future. I give students assignments to be completed independently and then while reviewing, we discuss the student's approach and the best tactics for the future.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

For all students, using praise and words of encouragement is important. For younger students, stickers work well too! :)

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

I adapt my teaching style and try a different approach or break the topic down further to clarify.
