Hi all!
I'm currently an undergraduate student at the University at Albany majoring in Actuarial and Mathematical Sciences with a minor in Economics. I was actually in seventh grade when I decided on the Actuarial Science major, and my passion hasn't changed since! I love math and I love to teach it!
Fun Fact About Me: I also love music, and I play the flute in the concert band here at UAlbany.

What is your teaching philosophy?

I believe that the best way to learn is by doing, especially when it comes to math. Practice problems are the way to go!

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

In a typical first session with a student, I would like to get to know them better, so they feel as though I'm a friend as well as a tutor. I would ask them what they feel they need to work on, and what their goals are, and go from there.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

Sometimes, the student just needs help figuring out how they learn best. If I am able to help them figure out what learning style is best for them, they will eventually be able to start teaching themselves by using those techniques.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

The best way to get a student to stay motivated is to have fun and take breaks when needed. Sometimes you need to take a step back for a few minutes before returning to a problem.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

I would try to go about teaching in different ways, such as examples, practice problems, or other hands on approaches, until the student is able to get a good understanding of the concept.
