Certified Tutor
I believe that all people have the capacity to have a successful career in math, regardless of their prior experience. I have reached this assertion by being a middle school math teacher. I have worked with both special education and gifted students and I have seen both be curious, motivated and successful in math. I am so excited to focus in on one-on-one instruction at Varsity Tutors and I look forward to tutoring you!

What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe that mathematics education should be differentiated for each student. One strategy that may help one student may not help another, and that's okay. It's all about figuring out a way to make the math accessible for the student at hand.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
The first session with a student would include both quantitative and qualitative assessment. First, they would take a grade level assessment to see where any gaps of knowledge are. Then, I would ask the students to share their past experience with math including what they feel successful with and what they still struggle with. Based on the results of these assessments, we will set student goals for the rest of our sessions together.
