Certified Tutor
From the moment I started tutoring fellow students in high school nearly ten years ago, I was hooked on helping others further their education in Spanish. I find it to be extremely fulfilling and fun. I've had great success over the years. The student that I most recently tutored went above and beyond in her Spanish class after our sessions together. Her teacher noticed a huge difference in her work right away. Things like this give me so much joy. That's why I want to continue tutoring. I want to help people grasp the Spanish language and watch them excel. It's my passion.

What is your teaching philosophy?
My teaching philosophy is to make learning as easy and fun as possible. When I work with a student, I dedicate my full attention to them. I do my best to hear them out and go at their pace while creating an environment of comfort and enjoyment.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
In a typical first session, I would test the student's current knowledge to see where they're at in the subject and go from there. Once I have an idea of their understanding of the Spanish language, I would go over their biggest problem areas with them. I like to help them create flash cards. Instead of putting the English word on the other side, I like to put pictures. I find that visual association is a very helpful tool when learning a foreign language.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
To help a student become an independent learner, I work on building their confidence. When a student feels confident, they can achieve anything. Having low self esteem can make the student get discouraged. I've seen kids that I've tutored go from feeling down on themselves to feeling uplifted after a pep talk with me. Once they've gotten a boost, that's when they can become an independent learner.
