Certified Tutor
Salvte, sodales! I am a certified Latin and ESL teacher in New Jersey, currently working with middle school students. I graduated from Montclair State University in 2018 after completing their education program for Latin and ESL. Other past experiences include student teaching Latin and ESL to high school and adult learners.
As a teacher and tutor, I love creating interactive and comprehension-based activities for sessions. I will design and customize sessions to your individual needs and interests, as I do with my students in the classroom as much as I can. We draw, sing, move, and act out language for the most interactive and engaging experience we can have.
I have a relentless passion for language learning. In addition to being fluent in German and Latin, I am learning Polish. Foreign Languages can be tough, but it is our greatest bridge to communication and expressions with other cultures, present and past.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
The student and I would need to familiarize ourselves with a small collection of goals or focus points for the subject. I would assess the student's strengths and needs to build an individualized learning plan.
What is your teaching philosophy?
As a teacher and tutor, I hope to be able to stimulate and extend the thinking of all learners, and to support the development of each student's unique potential. Subject content ought to be integrated with realistic and personally meaningful contexts in order to maximize student learning. This is particularly true for those students who struggle to see the relevance in learning any given topic. Enabling experiential learning and autonomous investigation of problems, where students attach personal significance to the material, are essential elements to my understanding of a quality education.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Through detailed assessment and feedback, as well as introducing new study methods to ensure comprehension, students will gradually become more confident and independent in the particular subject.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Students can be inspired and motivated to learn or study through meaningful and relevant instruction. By creating a context that is engaging and exciting, students will stay more focused and goal-oriented.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
I like to use a strategy called re-framing or re-structuring. Often, if we can find another perspective to analyze and approach the problem, then we can find a different, more comprehensive means to understanding.
