In my undergraduate career, I served as a tutor in photography and biology. I realized my love for helping other students learn when I would always find myself leading study sessions for upcoming tests with my classmates both in high school and in college. I have always received outstanding feedback from my tutoring services and I expect nothing less from myself.
I graduated from High school as the valedictorian and I graduated from Hampden Sydney College cum laude, so I know how to work hard in school and know how much work it takes to be successful.
Since I have plans for becoming a doctor, I have studied for multiple tests including the SAT and ACT. I have extensive experience in standardized tests and can tutor not only on subject material, but also on test taking strategies.
I was a biology major at Hampden Sydney College and took classes that included general biology, ecology, organismal biology, genetics, immunology, virology, endocrinology, medical genetics/study of medical literature, and microbiology.
I look forward to helping you with your educational needs and hope to speak to you soon

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
In my first lesson, I would gauge what the student knows and try to figure out the ways that the student best learns. That would gear any future sessions in the correct direction and make sessions more beneficial.
What is your teaching philosophy?
See one, do one, and teach one. I also believe in learning by example and do not mind explaining something as many times as necessary until the student fully understands the concept.
How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?
I don't think there is a one answer fits all to this question, because it would vary from student to student. I believe in trying to connect the subject matter to a hobby, interest, or career aspiration to motivate a student.
