Certified Tutor

I graduated from Tabor College in Hillsboro, KS with a degree in elementary special education. While I was in college, I tutored a college student in Philosophy and assisted her in studying for tests in various subjects.
The first seven years after graduation, I taught special education in grades K-6 in the subjects of reading, spelling, English, and math. During this time, I completed my Master's degree in Elementary Subject Matter from Emporia State University. In 2015 I started teaching at a private school and have taught English, spelling, literature, social studies, and science. My favorite subjects to teach/tutor are reading and spelling, and I also enjoy helping students proofread and edit their writing. In addition to reading, spelling, and editing, I also tutor in the areas of English, phonics, and test prep. I have a passion for helping students learn and succeed, especially students who struggle. School wasn't easy for me as a student so I empathize with students who have difficulty learning.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy spending time with my one-year-old son, reading, traveling, and Scuba diving.
