In previously teaching at the elementary school level I have been passionate in my commitment to three things: maximizing individual student performance, inspiring students' interest to excel in all subject areas and instilling a sense of self-worth by utilizing goal-setting strategies. I believe that the skills and experiences I have gained at this position make me an ideal candidate.
My qualifications include 10 years of elementary teaching experience, a MA in Curriculum and Instruction, a Virginia PostGraduate Professional License and a BA degree in Human Development with an emphasis in Child Development.
I am currently a Permanent Substitute for Virginia Beach Public Schools at Bayside Elementary where I fill in for classroom teachers in their absence, provide excellent classroom management and maintain positive relationships with all students. For ten years; I taught in Oakland Unified School District as a kindergarten, 2nd grade, 4th grade and 5th grade teacher. I provided effective classroom management, created lesson plans based on Common Core Standards, and had highly praised instructional delivery. I was also a teacher leader for my SCT (School Culture Team) improving the climate and morale of the school and BTSA (Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment) coach for a participating teacher earning her clear credential.
I have just relocated to Virginia to be closer with family. I am eager to move forward and accept new challenges in my career working with students.
